Today in music history 10-2
Happy 57th birthday to Richard Hell. Well, he doesn't drink or smoke any longer, doesn't do smack and he doesn't seem to put safety pins in his skin. What do you get a man who was probably one of the most important figures in Punk Rock history as he turns 57? Maybe a "Rancid" CD would send him over the edge.

Happy 55th birthday to Gordon Sumner, aka Sting. Mr. Sting is best known for being the dude who rode the coattails of Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers in a band called The Police in the late 70s. After The Police broke up, Sting became known as "The Nuisance".

2004 - Billy Joel marries for the third time to 23 year old Kate Lee, Joel is 54. The two met when Joel crashed his car into a "Chuck E Cheese" where Kate was celebrating her birthday. The two hit it off right away and drove off together that very night only to have Joel crash into his two ex-wives.

2003 - Courtney Love is treated for a drug OD hours after being arrested for attempted burglary in Los Angeles. The next day, after public outcry, Doctor John Miller was arrested for treating Ms. Love.

1995 - Journey announce that they've decided to re-form. This leads to an outbreak of hundreds of thousands of people sticking sticks in their ears, attempting to break their own eardrums.

He he 16 Magazine shot:

1977 - Gene Simmons picks up a platinum record for his self-titled solo debut. Gene is said to have 999,903 of his album that he bought still in his garage.

1976 - Joe Cocker is the musical guest on tonight's Saturday Night Live. During his rendition of "Feelin' Alright," Cocker impressionist John Belushi comes out and duets with him. Cocker proclaims himself "happy as a pig in sh*t" about the dead-on tribute. This was just classic.

1967 - Police raid the Grateful Dead's house at 710 Ashbury St. in San Francisco and bust the band's members on charges of marijuana possession. They are released on bail after six hours in jail and later cleared of charges, as the police had failed to obtain a search warrant. Unfortunately, this ended the public's perception of the band being a clean cut, God fearing, lovable group of mop tops who you would love to have dating your daughter.

1971 - Happy Birthday to Tiffany. Best known for her mall tours of the 80's. A tour is planned for 2007, but no Malls according to Tiffany, "The Malls became too much. They were over-crowded and I didn't feel that "personal touch" with my audience. I want to get back to my roots, to where I feel at home". Look for Tiffany in 2007 performing at your local County Fair with shows between "Jumpin' Jack and his Zany Zoo Revue" and the "Homestyle pickling bonanza".

Also a Happy Birthday to Don McLean (61). Some of you might know him for his hit "American Pie". Others may know him from his classic song "American Pie", while still other people remember his radio classic hit "American Pie".

1961 - Phil Spector launches his successful label Philles with the release of The Crystal's first single "There's No Other". Of course this is well before Spector started shooting people.

1995 - Oasis released their second album '(What's The Story), Morning Glory'. Originally titled "Two drunk assholes try to sound like the Beatles", the album enters the UK charts at #1. Score one for LoZoccolo.

That's it for today.

The first part is real on the story. Birthdays, concerts, death dates and so on. I just make up a bit of crap about them so they aren't boring. :hi:
