Need Printer Advice, Please!
Ok folks, I am in desperate need of a printer...The ol HP 610CL died a miserable death, so I gotta get a new one asap. Here's the deal, I basically just need to be able to print papers and articles, but some xtra features wouldn't hurt. I don't want to spend more thatn $100 of possible, as I am a starving student, or something like that...

So, give me suggestions please!! :bounce:

1. Epson
They're reliable and top rated for image quality.

Avoid HP like the plague.

2. Before you buy, check out the cost of replacement cartridges
The last printer I had before the current one - it costed me almost $60 to replace the 2 cartridges used. So the last time I was going to buy replacement cartridges I figured I might as well check out the price of a new printer. I got an HP1510 which has scanner and photo quality printing. The replacement cartridges (regular ones, not the photo one which I would rarely need) are less than $20 each.

4. I like Epsons, myself
Some of them can print on CD/DVD's, they use 4 or 6 individual color cartridges, so if you run out of one color, you needn't replace the whole color cartridge. The print quality is very good.

6. We have three HP photo printers in the house.
I've had mine for about three years and it's still going strong. Our Epson printer worked when it felt like it. And never, ever, ever get a Lexmark. I've had two Lexmark printers in my life and they were both absolutely miserable pieces of shit.

7. My 6-year-old HP PhotoSmart is still going strong.
And prints great pics. I think the price has gone down since I bought mine.

8. Yeah, I paid around $400 for mine.
My parents just got a basic photosmart for my sister and I think it was under $100.
