What does a Fitness Assistant do?
And how would they make $650/per week doing it? Is that a sex ad?

2. For $650 I'd do that and laugh at your wheezings.

3. They help remove excess cash from those who have too much
of it, and simultaneously stroke the egos of those who have too little self-esteem...

(And if I was ten years younger, ten times fitter, and 100 times hotter than I am, I would totally try to get on that gravy train...)

4. How old are you, because if I'm ten years younger than you
I will get on that train.

6. I'm 35 - but I pulled the "10 year" thing out of thin air
If you've got the buffness and the hotness down, and you can handle the grind of telling shallow people how great they are, then go for it...

I think it would be pretty cool to test out new exercises on people who were paying me for the privilege - "Ooh, that sounded like it hurt! Guess I won't try it myself..."

5. That sounds like my job description when I was a personal assistant.
Damn, I miss that job. Why'd she have to move to MS?

Some Jeeves you turn out to be... :)

9. Oh I was no Jeeves.
My job was to go shopping and to lunch with her, to act as her date if she didn't have one for parties, and to take care of her 5 German Shepherds. I got the gig because not only was I a cute lesbian, but I was a lesbian who the dogs didn't try to attack. I got along with the dogs and that was the major hiring factor. The first time I went into the house when she wasn't home was a bit rough though. The dogs let me in, but would not allow me to go past the foyer. It's hard finding people that can calmly deal with the fact that they have five German Shepherds around them snarling with raised hackles.

11. That reminds me of Lethal Weapon 4 or 5 or 6 or....
...where Mel got down on the floor acting like a dog and putting dog biscuits in his mouth to calm down that rotty.

13. Cool - sounds like a fun job
I'm pretty good at going to lunch with people, but other than that, I'm woefully underqualified for that line of work - especially in the canine area...

16. Yeah, it was awesome.

I've been around Shepherds & Pit Bulls my whole life, so I'm good with them. Basically, I knew I was safe with the dogs as long as I acted confident, didn't look them in the eye, and stood my ground. After that first time, the dogs would let me in the house no problem. I'd get greeted with play barking and tail wagging, instead of snarling and hackles.

Another job perk was free sex toys, as she owned a sex toy company.

10. Answer #3 is the most accurate description
However in the chain and/or franchise fitness clubs they're the ones who get you to sign up for the long term memberships.

12. Ahhhhh, so it's commission...I figured that.
No one in Maine makes that much unless they are selling something.

14. They got me for 24 months back in '94
The club went out of business before my membership even expired. Not that it made a difference as the first time I noticed that the place was boarded up I asked a friend, "when did that place close?" and she said, "Oh that place shut down a long time ago".

17. Naw....too broke after having $25 a month taken out of checking...
...for twenty four months

Funny, today I was comparing the schools that advertise on TV to those fitness club memberships. They could care less about teaching you anything, they just want you to commit to their student loan or pay their salary.
I've been in the same business for many years (computer drafting/CAD) and the folks who spend $32,000 plus for the TV school's programs know less and are much less qualified than the people who went to our local community college and took the same degree program for about $4000.

Today I advised a would-be CAD-tech to take the CC course.

18. There's a fitness club in Maine called Planet Fitness.
$10 per month, with 100 treadmill type machines and about 20 trainers ready to collect $25 and up per hour to train you.
