OMG, I had a four-hour marathon conference call this morning..
:grr: :yoiks: It was ridiculous. The head of our division wanted to talk to everyone individually about our goals for the next year, but does he do it INDIVIDUALLY? Hell NO! He takes 10-15 minutes each for 13 of us, and we all had to listen and give our feedback to each person. I am so glad I bought a headset a few months ago.... :yoiks: Call started at 9 AM and didn't end until 1 PM. Thank goodness for the mute button, though.... I'd had coffee to drink. :P

And yes, I'm still looking for a new job. I've put in applications for several good positions in the area, so I hope to hear something soon. Meanwhile, I'm still looking....

4. Education lending. College/university student loans, to be
exact. The particular lender I work for is a bank, and some of the business practices they use are ridiculous. Oh, and don't get me started on the Corporate Lingo... :puke:

5. Oh gosh. Jumping through hoops is a part of life, but jumping through...
nonsensical hoops is almost intolerable. I hate corporate life. It's so pinned up, phony, and banal. I sure hope you find better work - or, at least, people who will admit they're working, not crafting a corporate lifestyle.

3. I was once part of a conference call that long.
Half of it involved a bitch fight over costuming between two gay guys. It was mostly just tedious. One of the highlights was the costume director yelling into the conference call machine, "You're lucky you're in Texas, otherwise I'd stab you with the scissors around my neck. I'm not scared to use them!"

8. Trust me. It was really not all that entertaining.
Aside from the stabbing scissors line and the director opening the whole thing with, "Michael? Michael? Are you there? You should see this thing . It's beautiful. It's like a star. A star that you can play video games on." It does not make up for the extended hell that was the rest of the meeting.

As an assistant stage manager, my job was just to sit there, decipher all their arguing, and put it into a nice report to distribute to the various departments after the meeting, all while being really hungover. 8am Friday meeting? Theatre people? Are they nuts?

I live for stuff like this! As long as I'm just a spectator. There is nothing in life much more entertaining than bitter queens, lol.
