A man who spent the night riding around town in a stretch limousine with friends was arrested early this morning after he pistol-whipped the limo driver rather than pay the $1,700 bill, the Travis County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's office spokesman Roger Wade said Christian Sabon, 32, ran up the bill after he and his friends rented the Ford Excursion stretch limousine. When the limo driver dropped Sabon off in the 14600 block of Burnet Road and asked for the money, Sabon took out a pistol and beat the limo driver with it, Wade said. Sabon's friends called 911 and fled.

Sabon then went inside his unnamed business and locked himself inside at around 4:41 a.m., Wade said. Wade described the business as an adult arcade that has been investigated in the past for illegal 8-liner activity.

The incident shut down northbound lanes of MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) from 6 a.m. until just after 9 a.m. because the strip mall where the business is located is near MoPac. The highway reopened after deputies took Sabon into custody around 9 a.m.

God forbid they spread the cost of new construction statewide through raising the gas tax which is the same rate it's been since 1980. Oh, no, let's just screw the people who use that road because they're forced to. Funny though, most of the people using this particular road live in the Republican neighboring county. (You have Orange County, we have Williamson County.) My commute is pretty short usually. I can be there in 15-20 minutes depending on stop lights.
