1. I smoke nothing.
Former tobacco smoker for about fifteen years on and off; quit for good eight years ago.

2. I tried a cigarette one time when I was seven and nearly
gagged and choked to death... (Well, not really to DEATH, but it was bad enough to give me a horrible coughing fit...:P) I grabbed it out of my father's hand and took a drag off it because I wanted to see what the big deal was about smoking... Well, it was TERRIBLE and I hated it. Because of that and the fact that I HATE cigarette smoke, I'm a lifelong nonsmoker.

I smoked pot quite a few times when I dated my ex-BF, but not very many times since.

The tobacco I buy from a great tobacconist, very very mild.
The other: elsewhere, but also mild....

18. nice pic!
Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 10:48 PM by Drum
funnily enough, the "Drum" name is really from drums: a)I played 'em (classical) as a kid & through high school; b)I enjoy playing them now (hand-drums & percussion) years later as leader of a small dance co. when accompanying dance classes; and c)because the drum is also a communicative source of collective power, a code and tradition feared by powerful overlords :) And oh yeah...I'm not a great typist, so I wanted a short username!

Smokewise, I jettisoned all commercial cigarettes a coupla years ago due to the cough, the stench, the cost, and the nasty additives. I procure my tobacky from a fine place in NYC, Delaconcha, and it's their mildest of about 10 house-blended varieties...smooooth. I carry a leather pouch and handroll with Rizzla green papers when I'm on the go, and at home I use one of those little simple rollers and Gizeh filters. The tube arrangement never caught on with me, but I do appreciate being able to roll filtered ciggies when I'm settled somewhere. Fav papers are French ones, Abadie. Smoking nowadays is a much different act and mindset for me, infinitely better than the nasty slavery to Big Tobacco...their stuff is garbage. If commercial cigarettes were all there was, I'd never smoke again, truly!

If you're interested, check out www.delaconcha.com for info on this tobacconist. Their website by no means does justice to their selection and staff. Prices are reasonable, and the goods are very very fresh. They do mail order. I smoke "1390," named after their address on Sixth Avenue.

:)

48. Drum's not what it used to be....
they quit exporting to the US market some years back, and a US company licenses the name...not the same tobacco it was. And even in Europe, EU limits on tar and nicotine content have made Drum a shadow of its former self; I bought a pouch in Amsterdam a few months ago, and it SMELLED just the same as the old stuff, but taste-wise it was a disappointment.

American Spirit's a little harsh, IMO--I roll my own out of either straight Turkish or Turkish-Virginia blend tobacco...very mild (even unfiltered) and quite tasty.

35. Look, I'm actually a polite smoker.
If someone doesn't want me to smoke around them, I won't smoke around them. However, I think people can deal with simply walking past me on the street. It's still somewhat of a free society, and it's my right to smoke. If I knew you in person, I wouldn't smoke around you and you don't get to tell me I can't smoke at all. Deal?

"Is that your defense?

For the sake of your health, I feel I should point out that the cholesterol, antibiotics, and carcinogenic chemicals in beef will probably kill you quicker, than the second-hand smoke from walking past a guy on his smoke break.

And don't even get me started on the coffee...

I'm just looking out for you, buddy. You seem to be very health conscious, so you should watch out for that.

It's supposed to help us retain our mental abilities later in life, so we should be golden. Too bad it doesn't have that effect on men.

Really, unless you have some sort of health problem it could affect, it's fine. I just don't like uncalled for nasty posts about smokers.

No smokeable products ever. My grandmother died of the Big L.C. at 49, my would-have-been future MIL died at 45 and that's just not going to be part of my life. Plus every time you light up one of those things, you're putting life-long money in the pockets of Repuke legislators and tobacco barons. Fuckers like them are why hemp will never be legal and this disease-o-rama, cemetery-filling foolishment will continue (that, and because anyone can grow it, no one would profit from it. At least not as much as they can from toba-kill).

Never got the whole "pot is cool" thing. Never saw one positive example of drug use. Just one more bad odor at concerts and parties. You'd be amazed at how concert pot smoke attaches to your insides. Not describing how, but let's just say you know the day after.

I quit drinking at 19, stopped drinking cola this year (in an effort to cut out High Fructose Corn Throw-up) and lost a good amount of weight. I don't know what I miss less, alcohol or Pepsi.

The smell of coffee makes me gag.
