By Way Of Explanation...

In an effort to be funny (my natural state) and make some new friends today, I responded to a post about which L Word Actress was hotter.

I said, "Dana and Marina, if I was...ya know..." In my mind, I was filling in the "ya know..." with "...a girl :)".

I tried to explain myself but explaining it wasn't enough. There was no other track record, but I was considered a homophobe and insensitive.
Then, I misused "life" and "lifestyle" not knowing there was a difference (but was appreciative to now know there was a difference).

I promised an apology to come if there was "someone besides you and the OP and who feel the way you do, where you're coming from and I'll apologize."
A poll was created...and, I was going to gauge my apology off the poll.


11 People said they would be offended.
19 People said they would not.

I'm a man of my word...you won the vote of "and one other person". No pope-style apology will do...

I apologize to both lionessprianka and haruka for anything I said that was offensive.

But I re-read my posts. I left out a word friends, (which, unprompted), I filled in with "Lesbian" and it was immediately assumed I was homophobic. And a lot of people piled on me. Then the spin off threads making fun of it. I'll really never understand why. However, many defended me, for which I say Thank You.

When I hear disparaging things against gays or lesbians, I always say "What do you care what they do with their lives? Leave them alone and mind your own business." I give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

And I'll still defend anyone against bullies.

I'm wondering why I wasn't given the benefit of the doubt.

I learned a lot here today, beyond the dust up that started this whole thing. More about human nature, for which I thank you.

I couldn't make heads or tails of it so I stayed out of it. I've been flamed over alot stupider things, by alot more people. Some still have me on ignore. Whatever.

It's easy to hurt people and their feelings.
To say a word that may be taken the wrong way.
It is imposable to know what is really in a persons heart.
