Rod Stewart must be immediately stricken from the spacetime continuum
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 11:47 AM by Orrex
He may be the only person, living or dead, with less soul than Rick Astley.

And what he did to Downtown Train is criminal at the very least.

edited to add appropriate urgency to the subject line

1. I heard a commercial just this morning where he was singing
Have You Ever Seen the Rain? from CCR. That was pretty pukeful.

2. He's wretched
He was on Leno last night or the night before, and he performed that piece. I smashed my tv into little bits and buried it in the cinders beside the railroad tracks.

It seemed like the only thing to do.

3. He's singing every song by every raspy-voiced singer ever
Umm, Rod? We don't really need your interpretation of Bob Seger and Bonnie Tyler. Just retire, please?

9. I can't wait for his cover of "Holding on for a Hero"
Bonnie's best work, to be sure...

4. Shit, the man has bills to pay.
He turned into a whore back in the disco era.

If bad taste kept music off the air ..... there would be lots of available airspace.

6. Yeah, but he's been wholly awful for four solid decades
If he'd only been awful for two or even three, I could take it. But forty years is just too much.

7. He was great in the old Jeff Beck group, and early solo work
so, I think he has only been bad for 2.5 decades or so.

I actually, through bizarre coincidence, saw his band in rehearsal on a Hollywood soundstage for a road tour in about '81. I was working on a film crew on the next stage over. The old Desilu complex.
They were really GREAT. He came in later, and was actually a very funny guy.

10. There are trains in Minnesota?
:hi:

I used to hear that type of voice on the New York Subway system. Couldn't understand a word they were saying.

8. I like his singing
I know it's not cool, but I never claimed to be cool. I think he has done some pretty good stuff in his career and he is a very under-rated songwriter in my opinion.

11. I liked him with Jeff Beck
& the Faces. But he's sucked ever since.

12. Yeah--that's one of those "what have you done for me lately" deals
I mean, his solo work makes up better than 99.99% of what he's known for, so any good work he might have done with The Faces is lost in the rest of his career.
