great short stories.... a Matcom thread made me think about the movie Smoke Signals, which was based on one of his stories.

Great technique and stories, if you haven't read him.

1. I've read two of his books

Indian Killer, and Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfights in Heaven. I got to meet him in spring of 1997 for my Social Work class. I enjoyed his ranting/writing greatly.

2. I love Alexie!

Read everything by him and watched a movie based on one of his books. He is an amazing writer.

3. He's great

My favorite novel by him is "Reservation Blues", about a struggling rock band trying to break free of the rez. I recognize some of my haunts from my college days in the story, especially the dives where they get gigs. He's one of the smartest and funniest writers to emerge in the past 15 years.

4. If you liked Smoke Signals

You might like The Business of Fancy Dressing, which was written and directed by Mr. Alexie.

It stars Evan Adams who played Thomas in Smoke Signals.
