My best friend's moving away.

She's only been home since May, but I have loved having her around. It was so great being able to spend time with her and reconnect; she's lived all over the place (most recently in Eugene, OR,) so our contact hadn't been so frequent. She's only moving a couple hours away (to Minneapolis,) but I'll miss seeing her every week. She got a job that I think will be great for her, at the University of Minnesota, and she needs to move on with her life (she came home to care for her mother, who was in the late stages of brain cancer). I'm happy for her, but sad I won't get to see her as much.

That was my biggest worry when I moved to California, oddly enough. I was afraid my best friend and I would drift apart because he's still back in Vermont. But we're as close as ever, even if we don't see each other every day. I'm thankful for email and free long distance.
