every year in the newspaper "WINTRY BLAST HITS TEXAS" - and it's, oh, 45 degrees. I send it to my brothers in the Chicago area and they post it at work; it gets a LOT of laughs.

I guess it was 1981, was working nights, got a call from work waking me up saying I needed to go to a hotel near work because one quarter inch of ice was projected - I yelled I'M FROM F***ING ILLINOIS and slammed down the phone. :o

41. Oh, staying at the Driskill for free. Life should suck so much...
I did drive on the ice once. In college. I kept things nice and slow, but I saw a Jeep go spinning 360s around me and into a telephone pole. :o

56. so I was walking to the Driskell when I got off work at 0700
there was snow on the ground and right outside the hotel there was a bird on his back, flapping his wings, making little snow angels - I figured he was dying so I picked him up and said well, if you're going to die you can die in the Driskell. So I fed him some hamburger from the night before and left him on a sweater on a chair. Later when the day shift guy came over, I said watch out, there's a bird over there. He looked and said THAT'S NOT A BIRD, THAT'S A HAWK! His girlfriend worked at the Nature Center so he took it there - they said it was a male sparrowhawk who had probably gotten disoriented in the snowstorm, smacked into the building and got a concussion....the hawk stayed at the Nature Center for a week and then they let him go. :)

13. Hello friend
just turn mine off last night....slept with the windows open at 63' and the humidity was low, so the air was dry and comfortable. The electric bills this summer were very steep...as it was for everyone.

Hang in there my friend....cooler weather is not far off...it's been a very long hot summer and I too look forward to a cool down for some time. :hi:
