Damn, I'm having a rough night.
This whole North Korea Thing has me freaked. I just can't concentrate and I have a real sense of "what's the point?" going through me.

3. Turn off Faux News!
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 09:01 PM by KC2
Seriously, what did you expect right before mid-term elections? Don't worry, just another month and all the recent "scares" will mysteriously subside and gas prices will soar again.
I know...I'm a bit of a cynic.

8. Not watching it now...
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 09:25 PM by JonathanChance
Watching someting about the 20 greatest World Series Teams on ESPN Classic.

They only put the '29 As at 18? Had they stayed together, the Yankoffs wouldn't have had the dynasty they did.

like an unwelcomed bowel movement.

The stupid TV is your enabler for fear,

Dude, we used to have to hide under desks going to school in DC during the cold war twice a week as a drill.

A wooden Desk and the Russians had intercontinental missiles.

LOL.....:)  ...... a wooden desk, right, that's a plan for a nuclear fireball.

13. Here's a song for you:
"Waiting For The Next Explosion"

By: jimmy buffett

Missing link crouched upon a promontory rock
Trying to figure out his biological clock
No one around to announce his arrival
So hes got to get to work on his sense of survival

Oh, oh its a dangerous world

Oh but in china they got smart real fast
Thats where they invented the manmade blast
They lost a few fingers and some bamboo shacks
But they gave birth to a tribe of pyromaniancs

Oh, oh its a dangerous world (dangerous world dangerous world)
Fire in the sky, lava in the ocean
Sitting around waiting for the next explosion

Back in the 50s they thought it made good sense
To teach all the school children bout civil defense
Dont be scared (dont be scared)
Do not cry (please dont cry)
Just dive under your desk and kiss your ass goodbye

Oh, oh such a dangerous world (dangerous world dangerous world)

It was a hell of a hustle
Paranoia promotion
Everybody duck and cover just waitin for the next explosion

Wherere you gonna be when it hits the fan
Got a plan
Whatcha gonna do if it lands on you
Wheres your point of view

Down at the beach club theres a sales convention
Night sky is the focus of that crowds attention
Its no cosmic collision just a fireworks show
But they feel it in their hearts when those concussion bombs blow

Oh, oh such a dangerous world (dangerous world dangerous world)

Gunpowders louder than newtons law of motion
Everybodys waiting for the next explosion

Fire on the sky falling in the ocean
Sitting around waiting for the next explosion
(sitting around waiting for the next explosion)

18. I went to one of his concerts
I had a great time but was never a Parrot head,
like some of his songs, bought a couple of albums that was it.

They always had good booze and smoke to hand out I was told
but the lifestyle of a parrot head was not mine.
I found the crowd different than other concerts I went to,
Some conservatives really loved his music, but that must say
we all loved margaritas they just didn't like the smoking part
Jimmy loved also.

I love sailing sometimes, rhetorically and physically
and those songs he wrote about I liked.

The sailing crowd loved him.

6. It's time to take a break from the bad news for a while.
There's nothing you can do about it anyway. Read a novel, watch a movie, have a drink. It will be more tolerable in the morning I'm sure.

15. The Wisdom Of Fear
October 9, 2006
Honoring Life Changes

The Wisdom Of Fear

Anything worth doing will always have some fear attached to it. For example, having a baby, getting married, changing careers-all of these life changes can bring up deep fears. It helps to remember that this type of fear is good. It is your way of questioning whether you really want the new life these changes will bring. It is also a potent reminder that releasing and grieving the past is a necessary part of moving into the new.

Fear has a way of throwing us off balance, making us feel uncertain and insecure, but it is not meant to discourage us. Its purpose is to notify us that we are at the edge of our comfort zone, poised in between the old life and a new one. Whenever we face our fear, we overcome an inner obstacle and move into new and life-enhancing territory, both inside and out. The more we learn to respect and even welcome fear, the more we will be able to hear its wisdom, wisdom that will let us know that the time has come to move forward, or not. While comfort with fear is a contradiction in terms, we can learn to honor our fear, recognizing its arrival, listening to its intelligence, and respecting it as a harbinger of transformation. Indeed, it informs us that the change we are contemplating is significant, enabling us to approach it with the proper reverence.

You might wish to converse with your fear, plumbing its depths for a greater understanding of the change you are making. You could do this by sitting quietly in meditation and listening or by journaling. Writing down whatever comes up-your worries, your sadness, your excitement, your hopes-is a great way to learn about yourself through the vehicle of fear and to remember that fear almost always comes alongside anything worth doing in your life.

20. I'm still a little worried about the drones that Iraq had.
with that horrific payload that was in such abundance in Eye-raq. Not to mention all the proven links between eyeraq and terra.

only thing we can do now is be thankful we have Uncle Dick keeping us safe. Well, that, and put the Constitution in a Cuisinart - and go buy trucks before Nascar comes on.

22. I understand my friend
It is a dangerous, dangerous world out there. And * must take his share of the blame for making it as dangerous as it is. The problem is that we've got right wing ideologues, fundamentalists and extremists dominating centre stage in a lot of the world and they are making it hard for those of us who just want to live in peace

I sometimes draw some inspiration from my sigline. I hope it proves true again

Take care of yourself

23. The way I see it...
...no matter how much our fearmongers scream "madman -- with a nuke!!!"...virtually anyone who can manage to rule a country can also think rationally, as well as count, and knows that the U.S. has a lot more nukes than they have. If they decided, for whatever reason, to attack us, they could take out one U.S. city -- but their country would have ceased to exist long before the smoke cleared.

The fact is, there are lots of countries out there with nukes nowadays, not all of whom view the U.S. as a good buddy. Why worry about one more? Self-preservation would dictate against a nuclear attack on the U.S. by another nation for a long time to come.
