Every day for many years now I have driven past this quaint little piece of rural artwork, and it never fails to give me a giggle. I've named it Tractorhenge. I finally remembered to bring a camera and get some pictures, so let's take a tour, shall we?
Here is the view from the road. You'll notice the three main objects, two of which are rising from the very earth itself. You have a red tractor on the right side, a bigger green tractor (with a cross) in the middle, and a little blue lawn mower resting on a tiny bed on the left.
Here's a closer view:
Here's a view of the red and green tractors:
Here's the green tractor and the blue lawnmower. You can't make out the writing on the green tractor's cross, but it says: "Here Lies Big Bad John". The sign attached to the blue lawnmower's bed says: "One Sick Friend".
A final view. It's not easy to make this out, but there is a totem pole-type of object in the background, in the bushes between the red tractor and the red out-building. There's a bird of some sort carved into the top of the pole. I really can't figure out what this is, but it certainly adds to the general goofiness, doesn't it?
I find the whole thing to be delightfully silly. I've been hoping over the years that maybe they'd add some later dead tractors to the tableau, but that would probably spoil the perfection, wouldn't it?
