If someone could please explain to me why I woke up this morning
with "Ventura Highway" in my head, and why despite all efforts to rid myself of it it's still persisting, I'd really appreciate it.

Also: any and all suggestions for alleviating this situation short of removing my head with the kitchen shears will be considered.

1. Think of Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood Song.
At least it's a different ear worm.

6. "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...
Where the days are longer, the nights are stronger than...moonshine."

Sigh. :(

7. Well, how 'bout 'Tin Man'?
Sometimes late when things are real
And people share the gift of gab between themselves
Some are quick to take the bait
And catch the perfect prize that waits among the shelves

But oz never did give nothing to the tin man
That he didnt, didnt already have
And cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of sir galahad.

So please believe in me
When I say Im spinning round, round, round, round
Smoke glass stain bright color
Image going down, down, down, down
Soapsuds green like bubbles

Oh, oz never did give nothing to the tin man
That he didnt, didnt already have
And cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of sir galahad

So please believe in me
When I say Im spinning round, round, round, round
Smoke glass stain bright color
Image going down, down, down, down
Soapsuds green like bubbles

No, oz never did give nothing to the tin man
That he didnt, didnt already have
And cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of sir galahad

So please believe in me

3. Try listening to Pachelbel's Canon in D
Here's a link to a fantastic version on electric guitar:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=215_Mei8IZg

Whatever version you go for, the traditional or the updated, I think that it serves as a kind of melodic "re-set" button. Simple, classic, clean, and gets the mind going in a good way.

Good luck!

18. I think you could be trying to tell yourself something.
Perhaps it's your subconscious way of telling yourself you need to spend the day blotto on the sofa.
