Mainly, because, they don't represent this country. I love seeing the heartland represented in things like the World Series. Or the Superbowl Having the Steelers in the Superbowl was so cool!

I'm sure I'll be flamed for a week. It's just my opinion.

1. I don't get it.
There's a hell of a lot more people on the coasts than in the heartland. And when did California, New York, Florida, Massachusetts, etc. secede? I must've been on vacation that week.

2. Haven't you heard?
Only New York and LA matter. All the rest is "flyover country".

I get sick of the same media bullshit that insists any World Series not involving New York in some way is not worth watching. Of course, acccording the the East-coast based media, the rest of the country does not actually exist. Or so I gather from listening to ESPN.

7. Isn't that annoying?
The only teams that matter are those on the edges. The stupid announcers don't know anything about the teams, cities or players unless they are on the edges. I could do better announcing, and it is not my job to know all about the sport.

LOL! Those fools are just so dumbfounded that it will take them the whole off-season just to figure out what happened.

Better luck next year, edges. I am going to love this Midwestern series.

4. I'm a Cardinals fan, and I'm psyched to have a WS between
two Midwestern teams. For me, it's not a question about who is more "representative" of America. We're all Americans, and the teams that are in the Series (or in any championship) are there because they proved themselves at the right time.

I think it's kind of a hard concept to explain. There are times when I'm out of town and just want to catch Cardinals highlights on Baseball Tonight, and I have to sit through 3/4 of the show just to see a 30-second highlight reel of the game (maybe 45 seconds if Pujols homered). It's not so much a regional thing, I guess, as just being happy to see two teams playing each other who don't typically get as much attention from the national media.

5. I was just thinking
that in my lifetime, Kansas City was the farthest west major league baseball was played. So what's "representative of America"?

6. By "heartland" you mean that flat empty area in the middle that people
see from airplanes, right?

They have baseball there? I thought it was all cows and corn and stuff...
