What a fool I was

So I was walking back from town this afternoon, about one o'clock, and was inspired to stop for lunch at this Italian restaurant which is on the way. I went in and asked if I could see the lunch menu.

What? She asked.

The lunch menu, I replied. Could I look at it?

We're not open today, she said.

Well of course not. What kind of fool would have thought that a restaurant would be open on a Saturday lunchtime? Even if the sign in the window did say "Monday-Saturday 12:00-14:00".
