What's with all the pink ribbons?
I'm all for curing cancer and all, and I always gets my annual mammogram, but this is getting to be plain silly. I was entered into a raffle today at the radiology center for having a mammogram. A goody basket for a mammogram. In the back of my head, I was hoping whoever gets the prize doesn't have any problems. COngratulations, you've got cancer, but we're giving you this nice coffee mug too!"

3. I like seeing all the ribbons...there cannot be too much awareness
I lost my Mom to breast cancer in '01. She was 67 years old and otherwise in great health. It was her third bout with the disease over a 30 year period. She knew she was high risk, and was so meticulous about getting her physicals, mammograms, blood panels, etc. Sadly, her radiologist missed evidence of trouble for 3 years on her mammograms - three years!

Fortunately, her situation was relatively rare. People who keep up with their tests and health care normally have a good head start fighting this disease, improving their prospects of survival. That in fact is what saved my mom the first two times.

Anyway, no offense, but maybe if we get to the point of being "silly" we'll get at least some percentage of women to be more aggressive in watching their health. A little silliness is a small price to pay for saving some lives.

Ladies, please, please, please keep up with your exams and mammograms, and if you have even the barest hint of a doubt about what you're being told, get another opinion!

4. I'm sorry to hear about your mother.
It's the atmosphere of a giant tupperware party that is starting to creep me out. It's almost as if breast cancer is the latest fad or fashion accessory, and it's far more serious than that.

5. I do understand what you're saying
I guess just because of my personal experience, "too much" is still ok with me.

Thank you for the kind thoughts
