Anybody been to a Haunted House lately?
I'm looking for a good one to go to. I haven't been in one in years and thought it would be fun. And no, I'm not looking for one of the Hell Houses were fundie churches try to scare you into being saved.

So, have you been to a Haunted House or Haunted Forrest recently?

1. No...my kids don't seem to like them anymore.
When they were younger we used to take them on a "Haunted Trail" near our house (in Severn, MD). Wasn't too scary, and they were given candy along the way...but then a couple of years ago my son (now 10) sort of lost interest in Halloween. He'll still go trick-or-treating, but even then he's not really that interested (but he'll go along with his sister).

Of course today they're having a Halloween party at school - he's going as Harry Potter, and my daughter is going as Jasmin (from Aladdin).

Maybe when they're older they'll want to try the haunted house/trails again.

Tim

2. Thanks for replying
Youre kids sound like fun. Yeah, 10 is about the age when you start being putoff as childish by what you once enjoyed. *Sigh*

And here I am with a sudden urge to relive my childhood.

In some ways, I wish I still lived up there. I used to live in Laurel many moons ago. And Olney was always a fav destination (esp the Olney Ale House).

It's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. :D

edit: spelling

5. We have a good one here - "Nightmare on Grayson Street"
San Antonio TX. It's in the same building every year; they close off the street and have a kind of mini festival with vendors and scary movie characters roaming among the crowd; pretty cool.

I took my 14 year old last year and we didn't get through the entire haunted house. You travel through many theme rooms; best ones were The Exorcist bedroom and a room set up to look like you're walking onto the back of a bus, only way out is to travel up the aisle to the front. There are 'zombies' sitting in the seats and going in I knew one of them was a real person and would jump up but didn't know which one. By the time we got to the halfway point (a safe room brightly lit with an exit) and got ready to enter The Catacombs, my daughter and I just looked at each other and decided to leave. I couldn't imagine it getting any worse and she was pretty freaked out, so yeah, we were chickens. They do a great job of making it all seem real.

Here's their website:
