1. Audioslave -- I am the Highway.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13RA016Iwp0

this song deserves lyrics

Pearls and swine bereft of me
Long and weary my road has been
I was lost in the cities
Alone in the hills
No sorrow or pity for leaving I feel

I am not your rolling wheels
I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride
I am the sky

Friends and liars don't wait for me
I'll get on all by myself
I put millions of miles
Under my heels
And still too close to you
I feel

I am not your rolling wheels
I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride
I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind
I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon
I am the night

2. I'm giving you lounge people a concert whether you like it or not
I'm bored, tired, but not sleepy

Ani Difranco -- 32 Flavors
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsP2TheK0iQ

squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
and I'm beyond your peripheral vision
so you might want to turn your head
cause someday you're going to get hungry
and eat most of the words you just said

both my parents taught me about good will
and I have done well by their names
just the kindness I've lavished on strangers
is more than I can explain
still there's many who've turned out their porch lights
just so I would think they were not home
and hid in the dark of their windows
til I'd passed and left them alone

and god help you if you are an ugly girl
course too pretty is also your doom
cause everyone harbors a secret hatred
for the prettiest girl in the room
and god help you if you are a phoenix
and you dare to rise up from the ash
a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy
while you are just flying back

I'm not trying to give my life meaning
by demeaning you
and I would like to state for the record
I did everything that I could do
I'm not saying that I'm a saint
I just don't want to live that way
no, I will never be a saint
but I will always say

squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
And I'm beyond your peripheral vision
So you might want to turn your head
Cause someday you might find you're starving
and eating all of the words you said

12. More Chicks -- Less Teeth, More Tits
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TnOk1d5gSI&mode=related&search=

Less Teeth, More Tits

Miss Demeanor, a miss take a miss hap-oh.
I implore you. It's no miss tery I dont wanna know you
But Miss America I can't ignore you

You can wipe out all our progress with your little cotton ball
Slice and dice your face to perfection
Slip up a word and down you fall

Teeth are capped, lipo-sucked
Hair is set and nose is contoured.
Tummy's tucked and boobs are lifted,
Uncross your legs and your pantyhose shifted

Am I smilin enough? Am I smilin too much?
Am I tucked in and buckled, do my tits touch?
Hi, how are you, how high are you
Less Teeth and More Tits
It's never enough
You'll never be good enough

60. wow, interesting backstory
from youtube comments:

"Interestingly, the producer of SNL, Lorne Michaels, was so pissed off about this that he screamed in Elvis' face the old, "You'll never work in television again. Your career is finished!", spittle and all."

"The lyrics to "Radio Radio" aren't flattering to radio. The lyrics could be applied not only to radio but to tv as well ; the media. When SNL read the lyrics they probably thought 'this wouldn't be appropriate' (ala the Doors on Ed Sullivan). At first Elvis went along but his heart wouldn't let him continue with "Less Than Zero". Plus no artist likes to be told 'you can't play that because we said so'. When Elvis stopped and switched songs it was like he was saying "fuck you" to censorship."

and this song seems so tame, too. I'd love to have all those SNL performances on DVD, I wonder if they are somewhere...

really nice sound. Reminds me a little of a singer from my hometown named Christine Kane, but there is none of her on youtube. Here's another artist I like so see at festivals when I can, this was filmed at a private party; with a band she's outstanding. Michelle Mallone from Atlanta:

79. It's so cool that the
character in this song stutters, it kind of gives the song depth it wouldn't have had otherwise. Wonder who came up with the idea for that...Yeah, the Who are like the ultimate band from that time period, their music just never has aged, unlike some like the Doors, that I can't even listen to anymore for some reason.

86. this is one of my favorite Elvis songs
I agree, Elvis had serious androgyny going on. He has one of the most voluptuous faces for a man. I wonder if anyone has ever mapped his face for that, like to measure it and stuff because the lips/cheeks/brows etc give off some kind of feminine thing for sure.
