Pittsburgh is on an island?
Boy, Andy Rooney might want to get a better fact checker, or something. Pittsburgh is on an island? :shrug:

"60 Minutes" commentator Andy Rooney has been called a lot of things during his decades on television, but he can remove geography expert from the list.

<snipping>
In a piece pondering the names of towns and places across America, Mr. Rooney said he decided to look at an atlas.

"One of the biggest surprises to me is Pittsburgh. I didn't know it's on an island, like New York City," he said on last night's CBS broadcast.

Of course, there's a reason he didn't know that "fact." Because it isn't.

3. He went to the Bubby Brister school of geography
:-). Remember Bubby said the wind in Pittsburgh blew in off the lake?

4. Good ol' Bubby!
I have a picture of myself and Bubby, taken at one of those "Meet the Steeler" things. He was a good looking guy. Dumber than a bag of rocks, but good looking! :)

5. When I lived in Pgh. we bought season tickets from my old
college roommate who had four seats. Our seats were behind the Steelers bench at Three Rivers Stadium, so we always had a good look at Bubby, to the chagrin of our husbands :-). Our favorite QB to look at was Mike Quinn. Now that kid was a cutie.

7. Well, I've often confused Pittsburgh with Manhattan, so it's easy
to see how Andy Rooney could have made that mistake.

:hi: tigereye! Did you take your boy trick or treating yet, or is that tomorrow? Ours is tonight, but Baby Bunny stayed home from school sick today, so no goodies for her. :(

8. no, it's tomorrow
they usually have it on the actual day. He's much less interested this year. I'm sorry your little one isn't feeling well. :hug: for her.

are you doing any election phonebanking or any of that good stuff? I've been doing some here in Alleg. Co. I even took the boy with me on Friday since he was off from school - he got to stamp some envelopes and make up some election day packets.
