Devoured and shat out by wolves.
An apt description of my friend Dan's demeanor after he watched his Steelers lose to Oakland last night. I sat there with him the whole time.

Wow. Ouch. Damn. Ugly.

The post-mortens out of Pittsburgh are equally rough:

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06303/734137-66.stm (this one stings)

...and the worst of all...

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06303/734129-87.stm

...which starts:

"The Raiders won, 20-13, because Roethlisberger played a Tommy Maddox game, a Kordell Stewart game, a Kent Graham game. They won because Bad Ben stunk."

...ouch...

1. The mood is pretty ugly here.
I'm glad I don't care much about this stuff, or I'd be jumping off the top of PPG Place right about now.

3. Only if you loosely define the word "game"
More like a 60-minute clusterfuck presided over by network announcers.

4. Cowher is out of there
No inside info here but the rumors about him wanting a year off or going to NC State didn't come from nowhere. He has had an INCREDIBLE run especially since you consider that every time he has drafted and developed talent they have been free agencied away at top dollar and yet he keeps on winning. He has been there what 14 years or so... that is plenty. Go to Raleigh and enjoy yourself for a while.

6. Yeah, I think Jerome Bettis was onto this when he said that Cowher
would retire after this season. Cowher was mad about that, but it wouldn't surprise me. Bill and his wife bought a fabulous home in NC, where his daughter is going to play a college sport (basketball?). He's had a good run, as you say. Now he can relax and let someone else worry about things.

5. Gee. I wonder how the 49'ers' fans must feel then?

9. Well, except for a brief stint there in the 80's...
they probably feel like they always have.

7. Well, in Chicago the mood is decidedly different but equally as scary
as far as I'm concerned. Considering that half of Chicago STILL hasn't shut about about the Bears last trip to the Super Bowl (uh, it's been TWO DECADES people), it's going to get positively unbearable (no pun intended) around here if they keep winning. And if I have to keep seeing that idiot Repuke Mike Ditka all over the place, I'm going to be ill.

Not good. Wait 'till they meet my Patriots in a few weeks. ;)

10. Funniest. Thread. Title. Ever.
>Devoured and shat out by wolves.<

I felt about the same way after watching the University of Washington Huskies lose in overtime for the SECOND g-d week in a row, followed the next day by the Seattle Seahawks LOSING after getting the crap beat out of them by Kansas City.

I think I'll move to Chicago. :eyes:

11. Accurate description for us too
It was ugly. Ben had a great game last week until the concussion. I don't know how he can be so inconsistent and insist that the concussion wasn't the problem.
