Smokers--what's your brand?
I'm a social/moocher smoker, so I have none. Three or four per week or so, just because I like the taste and smell once in a great while. Of what I've mooched, Djarum cloves are probably my fave.

14. Cammel Lights, too.
I'm now down to only 5 a day. It's taken me some time to get that far. When I was bartending I was up to almost two packs a day. But it was hard to keep track when people mooch off of you, but nonetheless, I was paying for two packs a day. Now, I buy a pack every three days or so.

But I rarely smoke these days. I usually buy a pack around the Holidays, just to keep around. And that's it.

3. Larks
I managed to quit smoking back in 1982 but recently found the last carton I purchased. I puirchased it a day before I quit and held onto it to remind me never to smoke again.
If I ever smoked again I'd go back to Larks. I don't know how I quit, one day I was smoking a pack & a half the following day I didn't smoke any and haven't smoked since, never had a nicotine fit. weird.

AFL-CIO Boycott of R.J. Reynolds spans 50 Years
Boycott initiated by Bakery, Confectionery & Tobacco Workers International Union (BC&T) against R.J. Reynolds' American-produced tobacco products in 1955. Reynolds's anti-union stance has persisted for over half a century. In 1948-49 it succeeded in decertifying the CIO union, which had organized the workforce through sit-down actions in 1943. Since then workers have repeatedly expressed their desire to organize but the company initiates vicious anti-union tactics whenever there is any union activity, most recently a 1996 "scare campaign" employing the full range of union-busting techniques intended to pre-empt a union organizing drive.

Philip Morris (Marlboro, Virginia Slims, Benson & Hedges, Chesterfield, West)

$557,885 to Republicans

Cancer Patient Dies Soon After Winning Suit Against Big Tobacco
October 11, 2002, Miami, Fla. - The former Monessen man who made history in June when he was awarded $37.5 million in damages from the tobacco industry has died. John Lukacs, 77, never got a chance to enjoy the award he received from a Miami jury. He died Monday from complications from cancer. A jury concluded that Brown & Williamson, Philip Morris and the Liggett Group caused Lukacs' cancer and was not honest about the hazards of smoking.

Altria Ordered to Pay $10 Billion For Deceiving Customers
March 24, 2003 - Altria deceived customers by claiming that "light" cirarettes were less hazardous. Documents presented as evidence in lawsuits during the 1990s show the tobacco industry knew smokers using lower-nicotine brands compensated by covering ventilation holes and inhaling more deeply. That meant they were breathing more tar and nicotine than government tests estimated, according to the documents.

Philip Morris Agreement With EU Indicates Complicity in Cigarette Smuggling
July 9, 2004 - The European Union (EU) announced today that, in order to avoid a lawsuit over cigarette smuggling, Philip Morris International has agreed to implement a series of necessary anti-smuggling measures and pay up to $1.25 billion over the course of 12 years. For years, the tobacco companies have denied either that they had a role in cigarette smuggling or that they could do anything to prevent it. Philip Morris’ agreement with the EU casts serious doubt on both claims.

17. American Spirit
Original Blend — in the can, not the pack.

Funny this thread should pop up now. I just got off the phone with a guy at Santa Fe Tobacco Co., which makes American Spirit. I wanted to know how much the tax on a can of tobacco is gonna go up when Prop 86 passes in Kollyforniya. He told me it's only gonna be about another $3, which is great, since it'll go up $2.60 per pack for manufactured cigs.
