Would everybody just chill out about Halloween already?!
OK, let me get this straight, a woman I work with just told me she doesn't celebrate Halloween because "Now, there is just too much evil in the world." WTF? When did this start?

Each year, there is one less holiday that people just simply enjoy. Well, you know what? Americans are having freakin' heart attacks and strokes because they don't know how to just have fun.

Lighten up people!!!

The end.

2. HA!
Well that's one way to look at it...until they multiply, and become a political force, and start making Halloween another "axis of evil." :grr:

3. Fuckin' fundie fruitcake.
I would've been a total jackass in that situation and told her to put down her Chick Tracts and take the rod out of her ass.

I'm not very nice sometimes.

5. I did say some things...
...I'll probably pay for it later, too.

It went along the lines of, "Can't everybody just have fun with holidays....each year they change another one...blah, blah, blah...." It wasn't very pretty, I'm afraid, but I'm just sick of this b.s.! Next thing, we won't be able to wish someone a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

4. Here..here...
I agree wholeheartedly.

We're always worried about the next holiday BEFORE we even have a chance to enjoy the current one. Case in point, no more Halloween stuff at Wal-mart last night, they'd already switched to Christmas. :wtf:

Why can't we just have some FUN!!!!! Argh!

10. Perhaps she needs to view the "Find Three Differences" flash page
Someone posted it on DU and it got scrubbed because it can be quite effective in its impact.
Because of that, I won't put the link here; suffice it to say if you google those 3 words you'll find it.

14. I love non-corporate Halloweens
Pumpkins from a local farm. Lots of food at a dimly lit Halloween party. Candles placed safely in stategic places where the cats won't get to them. A reasable amount of sweets for the kinds (of whatever ages). Good Music. Good drinks. Costumes and some minor play acting. Some scary stories for the kids.

Let's keep the corporations out of it as much as possible and enjoy the holliday!

13. I don't understand why people have to try to ruin holidays for others
Personally, I don't much care about Christmas and I don't celebrate it but I would never tell others what to do about it and I don't get into debates with them about it. With all the crap that does go on in the world, you'd think it would be more important than ever to have a little fun and levity in life, or family time, or generosity, or whatever one chooses to do on their holiday of choice.

But then people are freaks.
