WD-40 can be dangerous
So, we've got these three 6' sliding glass doors.
And they've started getting a little hard to operate and making shreekgrgrging noises.
I got a brush and cleaned out the tracks and hosed 'em down with WD-40.
Smooooth as silk.

I just forgot to tell Mrs. t.

KA-BLAMMMMM!!!
JESUS KEERIEST! WHAT THE FERK WAS THAT?
woops

1. I thought you were going to say
you were lubing the knobs on your gas range.

Don't forget about that pilot light.

6. I used to use it to start my Rabbit
when it got to be too cold. Just squirt a little into the air intake.

(I'm talking about a CAR, btw!)

18. Just dont use it as a process lubricant
The automobile manufacturer my mother worked for was using WD-40 as a process lubricant for a stamping line. It worked great, until everyone started getting sick. Blood tests revealed that they all had WD-40 in their systems.

That section of the factory was closed perminantly, seems it was cheaper to do that then clean up the mess.

3. They'll work OK until the tracks get full of grit
Seriously, WD-40 is great for cleaning things and driving out moisture, but it's NOT a very good lubricant.

Clean the stuff out of there and spray in some Dry Lube instead. It's Teflon-based and will not accumulate dirt!

11. yeah, but WD40 collects every dirt molecule from a 10 yard
area, and will gum up your door even worse in a short time.

8. I used to have a rolling toolkit I dragged around with me
and the damn wheels started squeaking and shrieking - very embarrassing when I was going into a client's fancy office going SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK. One of my clients loaned me her can of WD-40 and I sprayed the wheels, then did my work on the server. When I finished, I stood up, started across the room, and ended up ass over teakettle. Ow. Always wipe up the spills! That shit will lubricate the soles of your shoes but GOOD.

9. A raining wet morning
found a young lady stalled in the one way entrance to the parking lot at the university. Being the gentleman I am and the fact she was keeping me from my job I offered my expertise. Release the hood I say. I raise the hood prop it open, Ok hit the starter. Sparks fly from the damp wiring. I grab my trusty WD40 (High Explosive) in a can, spray liberally the wet wires, distributer cap. OK now try it. WOOF, FLASH, BANG. The quick burning flash fire drove the moisture away. The car starts. All is well with the world. Boy was I lucky. So was she! So was the car!

13. Silicone lubricants are probably what you want.
Save the WD40 for cleaning tar off your feet at Gulf Shores. The tar will only get worse with Bu$h in the White House. And while Bu$h is in the W-H, you might want to buy extra K-Y Jelly (since we are talking lubricants here).

17. WD-40
WD-40 was developed at Vandenberg AFB, CA. They needed something to keep the moisture off the missiles.

It was the 40th mixture they tried.

19. BreakFree is a better lube.
I was reaplying WD-40 monthly to squeeky hinges around the house. One application of BreakFree 5 years ago and nary a squeek since.
