1. Of course.
And what's with "boy" and "girl"? Are you meaning to exclude men and women?

Any unwanted sexual advance is an assault, whatever the age of the person being assaulted or the age of the assaulter.

16. I had a friend who was 'taken advantage of' (his words) in high school
he had no desire to sleep with her, got really really really drunk, and basically woke up having sex. He immediately said no and wanted her to stop, but he was too drunk to get her off of him.

I'd call that rape, no matter the gender of those involved.

8. yes ofcourse
first of all a seven year old boy is much smaller than me..

secondly, if they are younger i have the power of authority over them anyhow (children often are taught that grownups know best etc)

also what if some boy was drunk/drugged...i could totally take advantage of that.

i am 5 feet tall and not very big...so if i can ..most women can

DISCLAIMER: these are things i could hypothetically (or any other girl my size) could do...not anything i have done or will do or am planning to do.

Maybe less common for a variety of reasons, but by no means impossible.

And by saying less common we don't really know the exact extent as all sexual assaults are underreportedd this type is VERY underreported. A close freind of mine fairly recently told me he had been assaulted by an adopted female relative when he was much younger. I'd had no idea. He's a great guy, but far from "well adjusted."
I don't know for certain, maybe his depression would've been that severe even without that history, but I rather doubt it.

Well, I have to leave and go donate blood, but this is a topic I would love to see more hashed out.

G'night lounge.

Oops, meant to repsond to the OP, but now I have no time and must leave. :(

30. Yes
but why?

Gosh I'm not sure how to "splain" myself. Especially since the Q explores the topic of female sexual aggressiveness which is something I know little about from conventional sources.

Maybe I'm too old (41) and women and textbooks are more 'out' about this now... but all I remember is how my girlfriends and I were always running from boys. Most of it was a "coy" game, but more often then I care to remember, some boys became assaultive. I wouldn't wish that helplessness on anyone, boy or girl.

Perhaps we don't hear about it because a boy is more reluctant to come forward. After all, society teaches him to be "tough" and in control of all situations. And sexuality is still a taboo thing I think. If it's hard for a girl to tell her mother about "Johnny", then I bet it's twice as hard for a boy to go to daddy about "Susy". Or would he go to his mother? Another dilemma.

Also I don't get the girl who would assault a boy. Sexual assault is a crime of anger and not necessarily sex although that often is the form used for domination. Obviously either sex is capable of that kind of anger and deed, but it's always been my understanding that testosterone had alot to do with aggressiveness and boys have more of it even before puberty. And if testosterone were not enough to hard wire some boys for aggression, society, furthers that role.

Girls on the other hand have all of the opposite stimuli. That doesn't mean I don't think they're capable, it just seems to be less likely to happen as often. I don't know. It's all very confusing to me and please know that I was just thinking out loud for most of this thread.

Bottom line, YES, I think a boy can be sexually assaulted by a girl.

37. Correct.
And the male stereotype has a secondary negative effect - in that the stereotype suggests men are always inclined to have sex, it is therefore inconceivable that no man would refuse.

And, yes, it has affected my life...

38. I'm Sorry About That
I had an experience in the boy scouts with a male scoutmaster that was not meant to be in charge of young boys. his actions have affected my life.

I don't think it matters so much whether it is a male of a female abuser. It is the role of the abuser, the power differential, and the degree of unwantedness involved that make a difference.

It is easy to kid around and say "what guy doesn't want to have sex", but not every guy always wants to have sex (in fact most don't always want to)

unwanted sex is unwanted sex

39. sure can
men can often get aroused while sleeping... if the woman tries to have sex with the aroused man while he is still sleeping/passed out, I would think that counts since he did not give consent.

40. Been there, had that done to me
It is a relief to finally be old, fat and undesirable. Some people can be unbelievably aggressive sexually. When I was in college there was a girl I made the mistake of befriending. She outweighed me by a good 200 pounds and decided I was going to be her graduation present whether I was willing or not. Yes. Women can and do rape men.

43. Yes, absolutely
Moreover - and I think this is important to add, even though the question wasn't asked - a male who is being assaulted may get an erection and even ejaculate, from a combination of physical stimulation and fear response. It does NOT mean he is enjoying the experience or that he wants it, any more than a female lubricating during an assault means that she is enjoying or wants the assault. Assailants of males will often attempt to get their victims to ejaculate during the assault as a means of control, and also as another weapon to use - "you must have wanted it". Victims will often feel worse confusion and guilt over their assault if this happens.

It is *very* important for the well-being of the victims of sexual assault for others to understand that physiological arousal is not an indication of consent.

I learned about this kind of thing while working in the juvenile and sex crimes unit of a police department, so I'm... uh... getting a kick out of some of these replies really seems horribly inappropriate. Is there an emoticon that means the opposite of a flaming angry face? Imagine that, and put that here.

44. Yes! We had a similar discussion months ago.
When I was in college, there was a rather disturbed young woman who had a real thing for me. I couldn't stand her, but she wouldn't take no for an answer. One night I went to a party, she was there, and I ended up having WAAAY too much to drink.

She was stone sober and KNEW I didn't like her, but she had sex with me anyway. Rape? I didn't think so, but lots of people here on DU disagreed with me.
