2. Junior was one very surpised -
and quite ecstatic sugar baby when he woke up yesterday evening. ;) I'm going to try to put them in the same cage tonight.

LOL -
Ummm - I don't want to be kept up all night with grunting coming from the glider pouch. I also don't want to hear any banging against the bars of the cage. ;)

4. What is a sugar baby? Is it a rodent or a marsupial? I've never heard of one.
They seem to be cute though. :)

5. They are marsupials.
Actually called sugar "gliders" - I just revert to calling them my sugar babies from time to time.

I had 3, and 2 died unexpectedly. The remaining glider has been getting increasingly depressed over the months, so I finally sucked it up and found him a girlfriend, one who had also lost her companion and was also depressed. I just brought her home yesterday. :)

6. How nice of you to arrange to hook up the little guy and gal!
Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 05:54 PM by CottonBear
I have a depressed pet too. I'm getting divorced and my ex now has the two older sibling cats at his place and I have my little deaf kitty girl at my house. She has never lived alone without other cats and she is by herself almost all the time and she is very unhappy. She cries and cries when I get home late at night. She yowls really loudly because she can't hear herself. She can't go outside except supervised on my fenced patio because she can't hear a thing and could get run over in the driveway or something else bad. :(

I work full-time and I have a horse to care for at a farm about 20 minutes from my home. I can't afford another kitty right now because I have no money since the ex has left me with massive debt. Tabitha can't hear so leaving on the radio is no good. I'm going to get her a cat shelf for the upstairs window so she can look outside from a sunny spot.

Good luck with your little pets. They sure are cute. I hope they find happiness! :)

10. Awww...

I'm very sorry, for you and your kitty.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I needed another animal like I need another hole in the head, but it is my feeling that when you commit to an animal you commit. Sugar gliders have been known to die from loneliness and/or depression. They've been used in collegiate studies for depression because they are so easily manipulated.

I really hope these two grow to fully love one another and can be truly happy once again.

21. Thanks!
Please report back on their relationship. I had no idea that a little animal like that could be so emotionally sensitive.

Tabitha kitty and I took a long nap together yesterday and then spent some quality time on the fenced patio in the sun. She was very content and did not cry much at all except for canned food!

19. Like most pets, it depends on what you put in.
They can be the ultimate pocket pets - very sweet and friendly. Or they can be something in a cage. Mine tend to be more of the in the cage variety, mainly because they wake up when I'm asleep, so we don't get a whole lot of interaction time. I guess I'd say in my household that they are in between the 2 extremes. Friendly and engaged, but not continually interactive.

They are a lot of work - I have to cook for them every night. It doesn't take long, but they get a pretty decent buffet spread every night. The worst thing about them is that they are rather stinky. The cage needs to be cleaned very regularly.
