NFL Playoff Predictions
Gee, since I'm running at 100% correct right now, I feel no need to change my predictions...

However, it appears my predictions for the second round were based on a false assumption about who would be playing whom...

From my last Power Ratings...

AFC
1st round
Titans over Ravens
Colts over Broncos

2nd round (Corrected)
Patriots over Titans
Colts over Chiefs

Championship
Patriots over Colts

NFC
1st round
Panthers over Cowboys
Packers over Seahawks

2nd round
Eagles over Packers
Rams over Panthers

Championship
Rams over Eagles in squeaker. I mean, this prediction is the one I have least confidence in.

Super Bowl
Patriots over Rams in a repeat I’d rather not see.

1. I think the Eagles have a better chance of losing to the Packers
I give them only a 60% chance of beating the Packers. I think if the Eagles play the Rams, they win. Especially if the Rams don't start looking better. Indianapolis, with Manning finally doing well in the playoffs, might go to the Super Bowl. I'm still leaning towards an Eagles/Patriots matchup with the Eagles surprising people and winning. :-)

3. With you up to a point.
The Panthers will upset the Rams, who will lay down about halfway through the 2nd quarter.

The Eagles will handily beat the Panthers.

The Pats will lose to the Eagles in a thriller.

Go Donovan. I intend to get a lot of use out of my new McNabb jersey, I'm tellin' ya.

6. Wouldn't it be nice if the Panthers upset the Rams?
I'm all worried and nervous for this game...

Although I must say the Cowboys/Panthers game was electrifying, atmosphere wise!

12. oh, I can't wait! Did you see that Peppers interception?
hoo boy! I tell you what, the whole upper stands were rocking! And I mean literally - the stands were shaking and I was afraid they were going to collapse

4. no no no...
My picks for the first round were correct too. I am proudest of my pick of the Colts finishing off (and did they ever) the Broncos, and Tennessee's exciting win over Baltimore. My Tennessee vs. Carolina Super Bowl matchup is still on track.

So...

AFC:

Tennessee over New England - why should the Red Sox be the only chokers from Massachusetts?

Indianapolis over Kansas City - I once picked KC to go to the AFC Championship, and even the SB at one time, but they have gone down while the Colts have gone up.

AFC Championship: Tennessee over Indianapolis in what could be a classic.

NFC:

Philadelphia over Green Bay - Favre's last playoff game.

Carolina over St. Louis - Carolina is on an upswing like the Colts and Titans, and their defense will stop the Rams once and for all.

NFC Championship: Carolina over Philadelphia, so the Eagles keep their choke streak alive in the postseason. :P

Super Bowl: Tennessee versus Carolina - tough call, close game. Going with Tennessee only by gut.

13. Oh, Zomby, Zomby, Zomby...
NOTE: This post is not for busting your chops over predicting the Eagles will lose. That might or might not happen and after last year, to say it can't happen is ludicrous

But Zomby, not only do the rest of your picks defy "conventional wisdom" (I don't have a problem with that) they violate common sense.

First, you have 3 of 4 road teams winning this weekend. Sorry, never gonna happen. Though I haven't checked this out, I expect that has never happened since '71 and the merger.

Maybe Tennessee OR Indy will win, but I seriusly doubt both. While Tennessee has the chops of making it all the way, Indy was very likely just satisfied enough with winning their first playoff game after choking the three years previously that KC should whup up on them, shaky D and all...

: Bottom Line: NO WAY there are 3 road team victories this weekend.

On the other hand...anything is possible.

Do you know something Packer fans don't (and don't want to know)?

20. They sneaked into the playoffs
Plus, he is past his prime. They won't be contenders next year, and he will retire before they ever are again.

Not a popular POV, but a valid one.

21. nonsense...
he only needs 25 touchdowns a season for four seasons to beat Marino's record....and he can do that....easy!

22. that has nothing to do with making the playoffs
The Packers can finish 8-8 next year and he can break that record.

31. I don't know about that
The Packers are a pretty young team overall, especially on defense. In fact, they have only 10 players on the roster in their 30s. Of these, only four are over 32 (Favre, backup QB Doug Pederson, long snapper Rob Davis and TE Wesley Walls).

And with Green becoming the focal point of the offense, I'd say, as long as they can stay out of cap trouble, the Packers should be contenders for the next couple of years at least.

8. I agree...............Rams over Eagles in tough one for NFC champs.
KC a dark horse..probably Pats. KC and St. Louis would just drive the East Coast media nuts.

Damn, forgot about them.

Manning could still choke, even though they pulled it out on Sunday.

I agree that the Pats should beat Tennessee pretty easily. Rams and Tennessee are both overrated IMO.

10. Titans-Eagles Superbowl.
This time the Titans win! I'll be happy for the former Oilers, but I'll turn the TV off before I see Bud Adams get the trophy. Since I picked Tennessee in the beginning, I'm sticking with them. Philly? I dunno - why not them?

14. I actually had the Eagles at 8-8 before the season started
So I'm making it up to them by predicting a Super Bowl win. I think the Eagles are due. They have to win sometime.

This Packers game really scares me though, for some reason.

16. once they changed the name
I disavowed their past, so I no longer consider them the Oilers, whom I always loathed. I will slit my neck before I root for a Texan team!

Otherwise, I would be picking the Dallas Texans (KC Chiefs) to lose to the Colts (who didn't change their name, and have no place in this analogy)

Don't forget the Cleveland Browns Mach 1 losing to the Houston Oilers this past Sunday....

Ok, I am now lost! :D

The Rams could win because now they want it more, especially if they meet NE, again.

17. I agree, but watch the Titans
Chiefs falling apart at end, but have home field. Still, go with the Colts. Rams lost to Lions last game, but have too much for Carolina at home. Packers are sentimental favorites. Eagles will win. Titans could upset a ripe Pats team, but probably not. Agree with your predictions; too much of a wimp to project further.

I think the Rams can beat anybody indoors, esp. at thier home field. If my prediction falls apart anywhere, it will be outdoors in Philidelphia...

25. Rams will have to travel to Philly.
And I don't know if your offense that's tailored to indoor turf football will be able to handle it out there, especially with the Philly fans. *shudder*

The Packs don't scare me at all, just look at their schedule for the last 5 reg. season games, all deadbeat teams. Last week was pure lucky versus an inexperience QB, not this week.

27. Yes, us Philly fans will give the Rams a nice warm greeting....
after we dispose of Brett Favre and the "Angels on our shoulders" fantasy. Nothing in Philly for the Rams except bitter cold, excruciating pain and humiliating defeat. No warm little dome, no carpet and the most evil crowd in sports waiting to devour. Man, I love going to Eagles games.

Kansas City vs St. Louis, with KC winning a thriller!

And yes, the rest of the country would probably consider it a snoozer, that's OK.
