I need to apologize to the lounge and the mods

Yesterday very early in the morning, I had received an email that contained a picture with some written words in what I considered at the time to be 'street talk'. I found it humorous and posted it here in the lounge. It was quickly pointed out to me that it was racist. The mods deleted the thread even before I had the chance to do it myself.

I really feel bad about it. I don't have a racist bone in my body, so I sincerely apologize to anyone who may have seen the thread and was offended by it.

and I must admit that it took me a while to figure out why it was racist, and why it was nuked so fast, so don't feel bad about it. I did figure it out eventually.

I saw that you replied to me but I couldn't even get back to you. As I had mentioned in my first reply, I was sure you didn't mean anything by it and I certainly wasn't being hostile towards you. I myself might have even read too much into it as race wasn't even mentioned it at all but it was highly possible that somebody might have taken it the wrong way. What we think is funny as it doesn't affect us can be highly offensive and hurtful to those it does. Examples: People with weight problems, physical handicaps, etc. are frequently made the objects of jokes and it's un-believably, widely acceptable. That's bad.

Then again you have some folks who get offended and pissed off at you because you smiled and said good morning to them.

Nice apology--I didn't see the offending post, but I've inadvertantly posted one or two in my time that, on reflection, were a lot more inappropriate than I'd realized.
