3. Me too ... I am not the sorority type.
I remember when I enrolled at NC State - I believe the way it was set up is that you fill out one form and they pass it on to other sororities and whichever one wants you contacts you , and THEN you have to pay some high fee - 500 FREAKING DOLLARS ! WTF ? I am not paying half a grand for friends. I had some who did and some who hated it. I had more fun with the girls in the sororities without being in a sorority. Never ever pledged. Why should I when I got it for free LOL.

12. yes and one has choice in undergrad whether or not to join a sorority
but my regular classroom is like a sorority. leaving me with very little choice in the matter.

13. What grad school are you going to?
I have a lot of friends with grad degrees or current grad students. I have never heard this complaint from a single person, including my friends who went to NYU. It's odd that your class is like this.

I had the same opinion of graduate school. It was all personality and petty games. The self proclaimed "pretty ones" dominated the department. In some cases they openly flirted with the professors and definitely wrapped those professors around their fingers. It was disgusting how well that worked for them. x(

39. some grad school departments can be like that
I'd be patient and give things a chance - sometimes the new setting and the adjustment can make things seem worse. Although I have to admit that a few of my post grad classes (in clinical psych) had that very flavor since it was a very research oriented department. (My primary grad program itself, on the other hand, was very experiential and alternative) I think it really depends on the school and the specific program. Good luck!
