I just found out Lynnesin loves polka -- thus a moral dilemma
Can she still be my Sister From Another Mother, or must I disown her???

I need heartfelt advice from my DU Loungers.

1. This is a much easier decision than the sex shop blindfold dilemma.
Disown her.

I mean, it's freaking polka, man. There's no excuse for that shit.

If you like polka that's okay

If you can dance or play polka and you're good at it, not okay.

I might as well go ahead and say it now....lighten folks, I'm kidding

6. You need to schedule an intervention.
Here's a plan. Invite her to hang out with you guys in NJ and promise to take her to a polka holy spot in neighboring New York State. There's a restaurant, the Jolly Onion Inn, in Pine Island, NY (Orange County) that is owned by the family of the Grammy-award winning "Polka King", Jimmy Sturr. They play polka music on the PA and have photos and memorablia everywhere. She can even do her own web search to confirm this place exists.

Once she's in New Jersey, take her to an undisclosed location and let a professional polka deprogrammer cure her cultish devotion to the dark art.

In fact, that's the only dance I'm able to do.

14. I miss the Saturday Morning Polka show that I used to listen to in Pittsburgh
The best was to take a polka shower in the morning. Another cool thing was that the DJ's were these old people who acted as though they were broadcasting to their friends. Saying stuff like "In case you didn't hear it already, Myrna Kowalski died on Thursday, so this one's for her and we'll see everyone at St. Michaels"

16. I like polka. Everyone polka'ed at my first church--
wedding receptions, anniversary parties, even the local Catholic Church's Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper had a polka band! That town was full of polka-ing fools!! I learned to love, and with good reason! It's fun, and easy to dance too--even easier after a beer or two! The best polka band was at the local nursing homes big annual dinner--what a party!! You can't beat Krauts for fun.

Now I serve very well-mannered English-descent types. Their idea of fun is not having fun.

17. Who doesn't love a good polka?
You must not be from a part of the country where they have a lot of Polish weddings.

Also, some polkas are pretty darn close to zydeco.

Polka should be the national dance.
