My best friend left management at Sound Warehouse to go back to school, and when she did, that meant the assistant manager got moved up to manager. We couldn't stand each other. And everybody else in town that worked for the company couldn't stand her either.
I had a really bad year working for her, hated my job, and she was doing whatever she could to get me to quit. I was the best inventory person they had, and had gotten elevated to working in the warehouse, checking in product, but they kept putting me on a register, and I couldn't get everything checked in! Then they'd make a sudden change to my weekly hours to get me to screw up when I came in...crap like that.
They finally found a reason to fire me, and when they did, I found a much better job using the copies of the evaluations I had from that job (they were always Above Average to Excellent, so they knew that the references were lying when they told them they wouldn't hire me back).
When I went in to pick up my last paycheck, I got that &*#$% in a room alone, and told her exactly what I thought of her, and said "You need to know that everyone in town that works for this company can't stand you. And it's not because you're a manager; it's not even because you're a HEAD manager. It's because you're {{her name}}. So I would SERIOUSLY re-examine your management principles." Then I stalked out.
I walked around like I owned the world the rest of the day. And my reputation evidently was established for quite awhile after that, because some folks were listening outside the door, and relayed the story around town after I left (I heard).
