Please tip your delivery drivers well tonight.
Here in Stevens Point, the current ambient temperature is 5 degrees. Wind Chill is -8.

So. if you're ordering out tonight, give the delivery guy a little something extra. They deserve it.

9. I delivered pizzas in Nebraska
The average person would tip you well at all times and even better during bad weather while the assholes in the wealthy neighborhoods used to write checks for the exact amount and nothing more. But that was after they took the pizza out of your hands, left you waiting outside at the door, put the pizza on the dining room table, put a piece on each of their kid's plates, then come back to the door to ask you what took so long and how much, then slam the door back in your face and five minutes later open the door again and hand you the check.

Okay, not all of them were that bad, some of them would let you inside and make you wait in the entranceway.

11. The wealthy are scum. YOU are their servants, nothing more.
I wouldn't have accepted a check. For a pizza, how rude. They could have got the cash from their snot-nosed kids.

25. It wasn't my call
As far as accepting checks and our store manager's hands were tied too. Both the drivers and managers had to follow the franchise policy and that meant putting up with any and all shit from the customer and pretending we liked it. Even if you looked annoyed to them and they complained you'd be reprimanded. There were only two upper middle class neighborhoods in our delivery area and they were worse than the so called bad areas as far as customer hostility. The biggest prick I remember was this pastor from a very large church in town. One evening I had to stand there and wait while he gave a lesson to his five or six year old kid how to write a check. "First you take the checkbook, then you open it up, then you take your pen and....."

13. Just to let you know
I have the check written out before the delivery person comes to my house

We live outside the delivery area by b/c we had family working for the pizza place they made and exception for us, because of that I always give a $5.00 tip.

I invite the delivery person into the house AND if I know them I offer them a piece of pizza to take w/them as they go to their next house.

I :loveya: pizza delivery people.

d.

27. It wasn't that it was a check so much as....
Edited on Sat Feb-03-07 12:58 PM by DaveTheWave
...the type of people that only wrote checks. Sometimes you just don't have the cash on you and some senior citizens didn't use much cash and most of the average folks that wrote a check occasionally would include a tip in the total amount of the check. But in the two fancy-smancy neighborhoods I think they wrote checks as an excuse not to give a tip. That or they thought people like us (peasants) would rob them if we saw them with cash in their house. I never figured out their mentality or cared to myself. They were always the rudest or always trying to get two dollars off for not getting their pizza within an hour because three of their asshole neighbors kept me waiting for five to ten minutes at their doors while they looked for their check books.
For cryin' out loud, I once had a poor working stiff like me who had to roll up change a few days before payday give me a dollar in quarters.

These days one of my old drivers who used to deliver to my house is the current store manager and he remembers how well I used to tip him and he knows I'll tip his drivers good so he's always throwing in something free with my orders like a 2-liter bottle of coke or extra wings. :)

28. I wasn't complaining
I just wanted you to know that all check writers aren't jerks.

Actually, checks are better for our pizza delivery people. They are not allowed to give change for checks written, so any amount over the cost of the pizza is theirs to keep no matter what. ;)

I'm in tights and sweatpants, a turtleneck and sweatshirt, socks AND slippers. And I'm freakin' shivering.

Btw, what happened to our fake winter? I was quite enjoying our fake winter. This *real* winter crap is for the birds. Oh wait, they have better sense and are all somewhere warm. :eyes:

21. I just got home from my delivery job
I work part-time for a local mom and pop pizza place. I did o.k. tonight; brought home around $45.00 in tips.

Not that cold tonight here in the Piedmont of North Carolina. It was in the mid-40's most of the evening.

That's supposed to be the coldest night of this cold snap around here. Temperature around zero, windchills between 20 and 25 below. So, if you order something for the big game, think of your delivery driver!
