Great cheap wines?
I'd appreciate suggestions and have one to offer. Hell, I just bought four bottles, you are all invited over for a tasting. See if I am crazy or not. ;)

Barefoot Chardonnay. $5.17. I am not saying it's good for a $5 bottle of wine. I'm saying it's GOOD.

1. reds from Chile and Argentina, some from Spain as well
Australia too. From the pacific NW I am in love with Columbia Crest merlot-cab, (7 or 8 bucks on sale for a 2002)

2. All the Barefoots are good, IMHO.
Have you tried the Pinot Grigio? Delicious. I prefer a dry white and I don't care at all for sweet wines, but my friends tell me the Sauvignon Blanc is delicious as well.

4. Here are some more:
Fetzer's riesling and gewurtztraminer (both around $6-7 a bottle) are outstanding, especially for the production size.

Bogle's reds, especially their petite sirah (around $9-10) are outstanding. Clos du Bois' pinot and zin are good, Rosenblum's $7-8 zin is excellent (I believe it's actually called "vintner's cuvee," because it's just a hair under 70% in zin), and BV's budget cabernet is very good.

While I tend to gravitate to $3o-$50 bottles, there are certainly very good, drinkable wines available in the budget range.

6. Clos du Bois'
Yep, that's my go to brand. About $12. Goes on sale sometimes too.
But really, this Barefoot stuff just knocked my socks off.

7. Oliver Wines...
out of Bloomington, Indiana. $7.99 a bottle and very good. Love their reds, but the whites are a little to sweet for me.
