I know people knock it, but I actually enjoy Last Action Hero. I thought it was a pretty good critique of the action movie genre. Some of the jokes have really cutting irony that you have to be paying attention to really catch.

3. I love it

It's a masterpiece, and it wasn't appreciated (quite the opposite) when it was released.

I thought it was pretty brave of Arnie to lampoon what made him famous, too ("Arnold Braunschweiger") -- some say it set his career back, but I think it's a real highlight of his filmography. And I love the in-jokes, some of them so far 'in' that a lot of people probably wouldn't have a hope of getting them.

The villain of the piece -- Benedict -- is just great.
