It started life as a 91 RS. It, uh, has a somewhat larger engine now. :evilgrin: The cool thing is it is lower in emissions than the standard for the 91 RS and makes of 300hp at 4000 RPM. 23 mpg city. I like it.

It is currently red but will be a different color this summer.

Kucinich/Bobby or Bobby/Kucinich. Shit. We might really get out of the horrible jam we are in if people were smart enough to elect them. Those two guys are even smarter then Clark. Clark, by the way, is really, really, smart. But I trust Kucinich and Kennedy more. I think you know what I mean.

32. The '91 RS, as I recall

had the same body as the '83 and up (kind of like the Fox body 'Stang). That means that it would be little more than engine mounts and minor changes to drop the LT1 'Vette engine into that badboy. Like of like the IROC 5.7 TPI car, through '92.

That also means that the ZR1 engine at the time would drop in as well. With enough cash, Lingenfelter could be all over it.

Horsepower doesn't effect emissions, I've come to believe. I had an '87 Grand National that blew totally clean. Dusted everything we met. The Indy TransAm with the same engine was even more ferocious.

This is a custom built engine ... started with a 77 Corvette block and 89 Capri cop car heads. TBI injection (I like wet manifolds) and a carefully tweaked set of parameters for the brain box. Two cats are better than one ... better flow and better reduction of the bad shit.

Always a good to run into a fellow gear head, particularly one who gets Kucinich.

40. The 77 'Vette block

Was great, save for the emissions restrictions. Typical 350 Chevy. Bulletproof, even bored .30 over. You could put a big-ass screwdrive charger on top of that, plug the nitrous and still not blow it. A 383 made sweet, sweet music for a small block.

I had an '80 Vette. An L48, not even the L82. Built her as far as she'd go. Ran 12's. Then, pulled the motor, dropped in a big block, steep gears and a Muncie. Went to the blower, and ran 10's WITH a/c. Scared the hell outta me. I coulda run 8's I think, had I the nads and a wheelie bar.

I was seriously thinking about stroking this thing ... but time and money started to become an issue. Also I was looking for a street car and emissions standards in Atlanta are pretty stringent enforced. I'm only running 13's but think I can get down to 12's with a little more refinement. One things is for sure ... that 4 bolt main is not even close to being stressed.

I have some more tuning to do ... she breaks down pretty bad around 4.5K and I haven't quite figured out why. Running real rich at that speed, tho.

Seems like the plant/tranny is strong. If she's bottoming out at 4 1/2 then maybe it's the fuel/ignition. I run Jacobs ignition exlusively (and pay for it).
