168. You know what's funny? In my senior year, a popular guy decided

it was worth the risk, so he asked me to the senior prom, early. In the weeks before the big date he tried to get me to hang out with the "cool" crowd, telling me that once they knew me they'd love me. I refused because the whole concept was so insulting. He did take me to the prom and I had an unpleasant time.

A shy girl is a snob... a shy boy is somebody that doesn't get dates, as back in the mid 80s, in "blue" Connecticut, it was still very rare for girls to pursue boys - which continued throughout college in the late 80s. The odd thing is, I got more dates with college women when I was in my 30s than when I was actually in college, or the rest of my 20s.
