about 10-15 years ago, I was heavily into miniature wargames, like Warhammer, 40K, that kind of stuff. Foam board was THE construction material of choice. I must have made literally hundreds of items like buildings, walls, fences, etc. painted, and realistic. Sold most of them on ebay when I gave up the hobby.

the neat part, the wargamers in my area got along really well with the model train enthusiasts. HO scale train items converted very closely to the 25mm scale that wargames use. so I was always at the train shop picking their brains for landscaping tips.
