Warning major venting ahead.
Why do stores refuse to sell anything that was not invented in the last 2 years?????
I need a 120 minute audio cassette tape.
Best Buys don't carry them.
Circuit City, nope.
Tried other stores and found one that has 60 minute tapes, but that is all.
What is a person that needs to tape something suppose to do.
Before Christmas I searched all over town for a video tape, that's right VHS, for my brother-in-law who is rude enough to not own a DVD player. We had to special order it.

3. Blank VHS tapes, sure.
Also the most current movies, but if it's older then six months forget it.

2. Orphaned technology
Very frustrating, I agree!

It is a way to make you keep spending money to keep updating....

4. All technology is purposefully doomed to obsolecence.

That's how technology/electronic/computer/appliance/entertainment corporations shore up profits: make people buy the same shit over and over, with minor modifications each time disguised as major overhauls.

edisoncylinders+78's=vinyl45s=vinyl331/3+8tracks=cassettes+CD's=DVDaudio, etc. etc. It's all the same shit, and yet I have to pay more each time a new format comes along, even if I'm not all that impressed with the improvements.

9. LOL
I had the baddest VCR ever built in about 1989. Spent a small fortune for it. Within 6 months the local video store stopped carrying Betamax format tapes altogether. I sometimes wonder if that buying decision wasn't the genesis of my first divorce........
