A shallow observation
I haven't read her book Infidel, but Ayaan Hirsi Ali is crazy hot. I just endured ten minutes of Tavis Smiley to watch her talk about her life and writing. I'd have watched longer, but I caught her segment in progress.

Damn.

6. There are pictures @ the link in the OP.
Her photo on the cover of her book is especially nice.

8. You make a good point
To hell with the internets. All this pointing-and-clicking is an obvious plot to inflict debilitating carpal tunnel on a nation of virtual-voyeurs!

3. Very nice
I'll have look for her book.

By the way, for sheer yuminess check out Nelofer Pazira, author or A Bed of Red Flowers. She also made a film called, Return to Kandahar. She's an Afghani living in Canada.

4. I don't know much about Tavis Smiley, other than that his promo spots
on XM are pretty annoying. I was hoping it was just that, you know ads are always annoying and he couldn't keep that vibe going for a whole show. Apparently he can!

Just out of curiousity, what is it about him that is insufferable?

5. He has a smugness about him that I find off-putting in media figures
Also, in each of the six or seven broadcasts I've seen, he's mentioned his Chrisitianity repeatedly as part of his interviewing tactic. It's always seemed somewhat artificial and pandering.

Not that I expect my commentators to be 100% genuine--that would be folly. But when someone conducts all of his interviews (that I've seen) largely from behind his bible, I get a little queasy.
