2. Oh, I've been waiting for that one!
When I first saw some of the new FX, I was impressed. I instantly thought of this episode. In the original they had to use a model kit for the damaged Constellation. Climactic scene with Kirk flying the Constellation into the planet killer; will he be transported out in time before the big explosion???

Then they cut to some STUPID FUCKING THREE DOLLAR MODEL THAT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS BUILT BY SOME TEN YEAR OLD KID! Totally destroyed the drama of the moment. I always laugh when I see that shot.

I like the new FX, but I think they snip some dialogue scenes here and there which is annoying. Some of the original effects were pretty cheesy; the new FX 'de-cheese' the show and make it a lot better. But in the case of episodes like Spock's Brain; well, you cannot polish a turd.

Has someone re-done the effects in the original Star Trek?

4. Oh yes indeed! To bad the rocks in the scenery are still paper mache!
I love when one of those bad boys falls on someone and bounces like the two pounds prop it is!

5. Generally I like them
I think from what I've seen so far they've done a decent job of enhancing without over doing it.

But that said, I'm glad I got the DvD's without the new FX while they were still available. It's good to know - to see - what the original writers, actors and producers had to work with and acknowledge their great accomplishment.

8. Well, shiver me timbers!
I didn't know anything about this, but it's now scheduled on my TiVo. I did check out http://www.startrek.com and found out all about it, including my local affiliate that's showing them on Sunday mornings at 11:00am - woohoo!
