Am I the only one who can't stand Sting? I think he's always been
way over rated and marketed much better than his music.

1. I liked his stuff with The Police much more than his solo stuff.
But I don't particularly dislike his solo stuff.

9. I lost track -but his initial solo stuff was very political
and at that time of fluff (fun fluff - but fluff per pop music) it was pretty courageous, imo.

18. His first two solo albums were brilliant.
After that, I gave up on him, until now.

15. It's the 30th anniversary of the song...what should they have played instead?
"Canary In A Coalmine"? "Peanuts"?

10. No. You are not the only one who doesn't like him.
I never did understand people's infatuation with him. But the music I like is much rawer and grittier than his stuff and that's what I love. I mean McKinley Morganfield, Chester Burnett, Sonny Boy Williamson nos. 1 and 2, Clarence Brown, Luther Allison, and on and on have never won Grammys and that is in part why I consider the Grammys to be a joke. Now Sting has a decent voice, but does he write his own tunes? Does he play an instrument? "The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock and Roll." And Sting ain't Rock and Roll anyway.

13. The only interesting thing Sting has done since the Police is his most recent album
Renaissance music with a lutist.

Even if he is now covering oldies he doing it without reprising the same old "golden standards".

Or two-word names: "The Edge." Just fucking SPARE me, would you?
