Oddest computer tech support call
OK, today someone called me and said they had a problem of the four legged kind. As I am a dog lover I immediately assumed someone found a stray, and they knew I would be interested.

But no, it was a really small and fast four legged kind of problem.

I said, well our really small and fast problems usually have 100 legs. We're in the basement.

So we discussed the various mouse removal options, which I actually have some apartment experience with.

Decided on the glue trap.

Logged it as "user has problem with mouse"...

1. I love those "facilities management" support calls.
Tech support: the default handypersons. I've never quite understood that. Why am I the person who gets to hang the new microwave over the office kitchen sink and mount whiteboards on the wall? I'm not even particularly handy. Can't say I've ever gotten a pest control support call though.

"User has problem with mouse." That's a good one. My dad is a veteran tech support person. He'll get a kick out of that story.

2. The other strange call I got
I work for a company that makes enormous diesel engines that are used on ships and submarines. Somebody called up one day and just asked for technical support. He got ME. The first thing he told me was what ship he was on. Then he said the name of the machine and started telling me the sound it was making... the name of the machine was not familiar but I figured it was an old computer and I was just about to tell him to "reboot it" when it occurred to me that he was talking about an ENGINE and not a computer! So I verified this and transferred him to the right person for him to talk to.

Then I found out that it would really not be a good thing to just shut down a hot diesel engine and restart it.

4. I agree
but they were the only method that worked for me besides d-con. I did not want that stuff around my food and my dog. I tried every king of trap I could find and the little field mice simply came and went as they pleased. Never caught a single one till I used the glue.
