Breaking: Five people fatally shot in Philadelphia, WCAU-TV reports

PHILADELPHIA - Five people were shot dead in an old Philadelphia Navy Yard, authorities said on Monday night. It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting.

According to local NBC affiliate WCAU, the fifth victim was the shooter. A sixth person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital, the station reported. Police remained at the scene.

2. They are reporting 3 people and the shooter dead
One at the hospital. Condolences to the victims' families. This won't be good for the city's already high murder rate. Can't wait until the new mayor is elected.

3. Regrettably, some of the suburbs are not much better....
Where I am ( in Bristol ) there is PLENTY of activity that tends to keep people from visiting the area. Too bad people don't hear about the really nice parts of Philly ( or Bucks County ) This does wonders for our image :thumbsdown:

5. Many of the suburbs are calm, but you do have spots
My area, the Collegeville area, is pretty crimeless except for maybe a few crimes at Ursinus College.

Center City, NE Philly, and South Street are pretty safe parts of the city.
