Sweet Sixteener Isn't Allowed To Drive Her $96,000 Car To School
<snip>

Gossips tried to sour Cher Hubsher's Sweet 16.

They called local radio stations.

They spread rumors on the St. Petersburg Times Web site, tampabay.com.

"I have an inside source that says the red Jaguar was just for show and actually a rental car. They actually got the poor girl a 1996 Honda Civic." by benjamin

"first of all part of the show was a scam - she did not get the jag, that was a whole mtv thing. she drives a toyota camry, why is her "doctor" father lying?" by stephanie
Enough already.

Cher Hubsher, the Palm Harbor teenager whose lavish Sweet 16 was documented by MTV crews and the Times, really did get a cherry red Jaguar convertible for her birthday.

The car was in the driveway when we reported the original story in January. To address the rumors, we returned to the house, took another look at the car and saw the leasing agreement.

The Hubshers don't let Cher drive the car, which has a sticker price of $96,422, to school.

26. Thing is,
That girl probably would have pitched a nuclear hissyfit if she had just gotten the Camry and not the Jaguar.

Just once, I would like to watch this show and see the kid have to do something, anything for the good of others in order to earn the lavish gifts and party. Perhaps that part gets left on the cutting room floor. But the hyperactive sense of entitlement these kids show is highly nauseating.

35. I got a fantastic deal on the one I got for my daughter to drive.
Note: Third family car, not hers. Her dad's car is a company car, so she can't drive it,so it is really our second car.

2004 Camry LE 60,000 highway miles for just under $11,000.

Sweet, sweet deal. I think it will last through all three Midlos if I'm lucky.

3. Can someone please explain to me how any
16 year old deserves a car with a price of $96,422 for a birthday present.

Sounds to me like her doctor father and her mother have more money than sense....

Fuck fuck fuckity FUCK with a sundae this stupid-assed shallower-than-a-kiddie-pool show.

Because NO one's important or worth a plug nickel unless they have a fuckload of cash by winning the life-luck lottery and have the power to spoil the hell out of their undeserving progenies with it! WHOOOHAH!!

This show should be called "What's REALLY Wrong with the Economy?" Too much ostentatious wealth concentrated at the top. NO kid needs a goddamned Jaguar.

28. Damn straight.
I went to high school with a sizeable chunk of people whose parents were fucking LOADED. The worst I ever saw were a couple BMWs. (The only person I know who actually has an excuse for that got hers as a hand-me-down.)

If someone had shown up with a $100k car, they'd have gotten keyed by everyone, including the other rich kids.

27. Come to my part of town...Plano, TX
where teenagers are driving Mercedes', BMW's, Hummer's, etc. Heck, go look at the parking lot of Prestonwood Christian Academy and you'll be shocked. lol.
I came out of Starbucks a few days ago and saw one driving a very nice $130,000 Mercedes. It's just a fact of life that these kids exist and I don't think it's fair to judge them based on their spoils.

32. it is the same in any wealthy community
and in fact the middle class do it as well...the local high school has a boat load of new cars that are driven there by kids. Some kids have cars far nicer than the teachers.

My niece drives a beater volvo so she can get to her horrifically early practices, but she has friends driving new cars that they got for securing scholarships to college or as early graduation gifts.

29. I hate that stupid show and I've never even seen it.
Way to glorify stupid consumerism, folks. A car that costs more than 90% of the country's yearly wages? :puke: $96,000 for a fucking CAR? That can potentially get totaled? Ugh! Pass.

If I was in that situation, I'd rather have a $5-10,000 (or less!) car and put the other $85-90k toward charity, a savings account, or both.

So who the hell gets a nearly $100K car for a birthday anyway? I guess rich clueless people. Or maybe it was just for show and she really drives a Camry. I still don't feel sorry for her. I had to drive a 10 year old Volvo wagon. Talk about uncool. But it did run well at least.

38. Geez
Totally bizarre.

When my 16 year old son decided to use some of his inheritance, he bought a used Hyundai. No problems driving that to school. And when he got in his first accident we didn't go all psycho over the thousands of dollars it would have cost to repair a red Jaguar.

He's a grown-up now and is quite happy with his Ford Focus he bought after he got his first teaching job.

$96 grand. MOre than my kid makes in 2 years.

Even if I had that kind of money no way would I have bought either of my kids a Jaqg at 16.

40. sickening
reminds me of this drunk little shit I saw in the bathroom of a college basketball game last weekend. After accosting one of the other team's fans in the line (a nice guy who could have easily flattened this kid) he then started shit with an older guy and walked out saying "My dad could buy and sell your ass! My dad shits on you!"

Indeed. His dad shit on us all when he raised that spoiled little brat and sent him out into our part of the world. He shits on us allright.

A 16 year old with a $96,000 car. That is just fucked. That family should have their assets seized and they should be guillotined by a mob of angry homeless people, Jacobin style.
