1. Don't remind me.
At least I am off work tomm..

I just hope the snow holds off long enough until I can get home from work tonight.

I have to work until about 11 p.m.

2. My mom lives in Central Illinois
I just got off the phone with her...says they're getting blizzard conditions down there.

Thanks. They were probably "whining" about it on the Weather Channel as well.

9. Oh yeah, Central Illinois is now the frozen tundra.
I have snow almost covering the rear bumper of my car and you can't see out of some of the windows because they are either covered by a drift (in our basement family room--relax!) or else snow has blown up onto them and frozen on (every other blasted window on my house that faces either south or east.) Last time I checked it was somewhere around 8 inches of snow reported, and I personally think more than that has come down but has been blown away.

The University of Illinois canceled classes today. I remember maybe one or two other times that has ever happened. It is enough of a blizzard that ESDA is asking people to stay in so the snow plows won't hit them.

The courthouses in Champaign, Vermilion, Douglas and I think even Macon County have all closed today.

This is a very bad time to be in East Central Illinois.

For once, Terry, I honestly think it is better to be dealing with the weather in Chicago.

:)

11. Mom lives in Decatur.
She said it was getting worse down there. They've gotten about 8" of snow and they're expecting more.

I do think they have it worse down there, Laura. Sorry for them.

13. Didn't Decatur get ICE and THEN get the snow?
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 07:55 PM by davsand
I can't even begin to imagine how ugly that must be. I thought I remembered hearing that there was a line someplace around Decatur or Mattoon where it was ice last night then the temperature dropped enough for it to turn into snow. Doesn't THAT sound like a lot of fun?

:scared:

Just when you think your life sucks you realize how ugly it is someplace else... I wish I lived someplace near Decatur, I'd check on your Mom for you, Terry. As it is, I can't even get out my front door right now! Your poor Mom, I do hope she's not stuck alone in her house.

I was dropping of groceries for my mom yesterday while we were waiting for this mess to hit. Something occurred to me then and I just have to share it here. Have you ever wondered WHY people always want bread, eggs and MILK when they are gonna be snowed in? Why not Beer or Coffee or even OJ? Why milk?

Things that make me go Hmmm...

16. Here ya go, a report on Springfield:
Springfield officially received 8.4 inches of snow on Feb 13 2007.
This breaks the old record of 5.7 set in 1978.

In addition... the storm total snowfall in Springfield was 11.2
inches. This is the 4th most snowfall to occur in a 24-hour period
in Springfield since records began in 1879.

either hell has frozen over or else the weather is BAD.

That happened yesterday.

I work in suburban Chicago.

24. We kept hoping for pizza today, too.
But none appeared and I was obliged to venture out and scan the barren wilderness for sustenance.

I wore my sunglasses.

19. ahhh... it's so nice to get a reminder of why I live in AZ now!
I used to live in PA. When I hear of all the bad winter weather there I just look out my window at the flowers blooming and the citrus on the trees and feel blessed. :)
