17. Yark....that is ON TOP of the 6 inches of snow we got
plus we are going to get another 3" on top of the ice.

My office has already closed...at least I can stay home and de-ice the sidewalks..which I have kept after for HOURS now.

Our tall crappy silver maples are groaning with ice...and the wind is starting to kick...every tome I step out on the back porch it is a popping snapping mess. It will be a HUGE cleanup because silver maples do not take ice well. Now, our sugar maple is a trooper and handles ice like a pro.

This is the payback for the warm winter we had all of Nov - Jan.

15. Just started about two hours ago, here.
I'm in Western NY, and right now it is just a fairly steady, light snow. It's suppose to intensify through the night. I'm expecting a snow day --I only teach one class on Wednesday, but am painting a mural at a library -- most likely won't be doing any painting tomorrow.

Two school districts closed, so far. I expect there will by many more by morning.

We have a new principal, and he already gave us the heads up, that he will not hesitate to close. I work at a private school that has a large percentage of kids bussed in from other districts.

Glossary of Meteorology

'mesoscale — Pertaining to atmospheric phenomena having horizontal scales ranging from a few to several hundred kilometers, including thunderstorms, squall lines, fronts, precipitation bands in tropical and extratropical cyclones, and topographically generated weather systems such as mountain waves and sea and land breezes.'

35. I had to give the back door a massive kick...
...so it would open against the piled-up snow and ice. Would have been "interesting" if I hadn't gotten it open, because taking all the dogs out the front, one by one, isn't really a viable option.

I hate winter too! Though I don't mind so much when there's snow on the ground - at least it looks nice. But I hate the cold temperature and all the hassle and inconvenience that goes with it.

Of whom one is very old, one is super-well-behaved, and the other four are various degrees of holy terror. :) I can take the adults out front without much problem, but trying to take any one of the 9-month-old pups out the front, sets the other two siblings screaming in outrage, which is why I need to let them out the back. Damn. Ohio here, too....

This is someones driveway in Oswego, NY. They have between 110 - 120" of snow and that is prior to this storms arrival. They are predicting another two feet and then more lake effect. EEEEE Gods. My son lived up there for 5 years. They get tremendous snowfalls.

56. Yup.
How does a person even deal with snow that is over their heads? We have seen news footage of this place that they call the snow dump. It's where they bring the snow by the truck loads to get it out of the streets. They are predicting that the piles at the snow dump will not fully melt until August.

Lake Ontario has remained open -- no ice cover. This has been a bad combination with this cold spell we have had the past couple weeks. They could have 15 feet of snow before this one is all done. :scared:

And our power was out for 4 hours.... It just came back on!

Looks like a lot of schools are closing tomorrow. So far, we only have a 2-hr. delay, but that will probably change. It is really treacherous out there (western PA)!

63. I let my siberian out about 4:30 am,
the snow in the backyard was up to her belly, she tried to walk through a drift and disappeared. Then with a little frantic clawing with snow flying, she popped out the other side. The end of my drive has about four feet piled up from the plows. And it's still coming down. Likely the worst in these parts(NW Ohio) since the blizzard of 78.
