9. His video announcement was very solid

and to be honest he has a penchant for doing his homework--I've never heard just talk out of his ass. There are times when I wish he'd yell at Howard Fineman and a few other of his regular guests, but listening to his show and reading his books it's easy to tell Al likes to do research.

That, coupled with his comedians ability to think on his feet and work crowds should make him a deadly opponent in a political debate.

I;m not a bookmaker, but I'd say at this point Al is the Dem to beat, and this is the Dem's race to lose. Norm Coleman is about at the end of his political string; you can only jump ship so many times.

The other candidate to watch is Mike Ciresi--he was the attorney who won MN's tobacco lawsuit. I think he's pretty close to being a billionaire and also knows how to not fold under pressure. However, he did run for senate once before--the time Mark Dayton won. We'll have to see how that shakes out.

I'm curious to see what tripe the GOP throws his way. He's admitted to smoking pot and has hollywood friends, expect to see a bunch of crap about that.

I think the days where claiming your opponent got high being a deal breaker are pretty much over--but I don't thaink that will stop the republans (see no "ic" there either) from trying.
