2. They're going to do construction on the bridge
and we want to keep them from nesting there this spring. We did it today because I saw a swallow checking out the site this morning. :scared:

And I am home early because it was a filthy job and I really, really, really wanted to take a shower especially since I got shit in my eyes *AND* we disturbed a bat, which makes me worry about germs. :scared:

5. Ahh
I love them. I don't know why (no real mud?) but they rarely nest on any of our buildings, although they do down on the San Pedro and even a little higher than us in Dragoon (they used to be a "problem" on the old post office)

Bats are cool too.

6. Cliff and barn
I dunno, they want to mess with the bridge and they don't want them breeding there when they do it.

13. That's because they are protected species
Certain kinds of swallows are protected in Cali. You need permits, monitors, all kinds of shit if they are there and you are working. Extra cost, extra hassle.

14. All nesting swallows are protected
Bank swallow colonies are protected at all times, but the others, you can go in when they're not breeding and knock down their nests without a permit. :P

20. Ravens are always knocking them down when they are breeding.
Some ravens get to be quite good at it.

Baby swallows must be very tasty for the trouble I've seen some ravens take.
