Somewhat morbid, but there are many feral cats around my apartment complex recently. We just went through some really crappy winter death here in central Ohio. These critters will seek shelter in and around a warm car engine when it's blue-ass cold like this, so take a minute to alert any possible engine dwellers of your presence before cranking up the motor in the morning. Thump on the hood, or make some noise. That's usually enough to send the poor critters scampering out of their hiding place. Just another sad fact of winter coupled with homeless kitties...
