All because I had to go pick up poor Chief...do a favor and shaft m'self....haven't gotten a ticket in AGES!

1. clippers are cheaper
Surely your mum's friend would rather be clipped by someone who knows him(?).

6. time to learn! :-)
If you use a proper clipper, its not really all that hard.
The doggie is much happier to be clipped by someone they know, love and trust.

You can get a clipper and do it for her, charging her market rates!! :-)

Sorry about the ticket... another victemless crime prosecuted to expropriate property from civilians.

It all makes you wonder whether police are literate enough to read the constitution.

I've had traffic tickets completely blow away my financial planning, being that close to the edge.

Sorry it happened... bummer.

My insurance went up for a ticket for a moving violation. Driving on the shoulder is a moving violation.

5. Traffic tickets are one of the most unfair things in our society.
The idea that some fines are laugh at by some people and devastating to others
is disgusting.

We all should be ashamed to allow this insane practice.

13. I say this/that ...because when I worked for Kodak a nice Lady...
Edited on Thu Feb-15-07 08:27 PM by BlueJazz
...whose husband left her and the kids, got a 175.00 ticket for
going through a stop sign (at 4 o'clock in the morning on a side street)
and she was in tears because she couldn't buy school clothes for her children.

About a week later one of my upper bosses got a drunk driving ticket for 450.00 bucks and just laughed it off.

The system Sucks...

7. Wait... going around a guy making an unprotected left is a moving violation?
Shit, that is expected driving practice in Los Angeles. We always go around the guy making an unprotected left. Everyone. Not just us.

I know a lot of driving laws do differ from place to place. We can make a right on red, but I know a lot of places can't. I'd better be careful if we ever move! :scared:

Out of curiosity, what state do you live in?

...which was as wide as a regular lane. :(

11. Here in Michigan
It's illegal to pass on the shoulder as well. We can turn right on a red light though.

14. Oh shoot, I do that nearly every day
as does everyone else - we pass on the shoulder when someone's turning left all the time right in front of our police station.

I had an out-of-towner here visiting over the summer who was a little surprised that we turn left on red for the Michigan Lefts.

Have an accident while passing on the shoulder and see if your insurance company will cover it.

15. It's expected driving practice here, but it's definitely illegal
Still, it's safer to do it and risk the ticket and not do it and suffer the wrath of anyone stuck behind you...

17. Actually, it's illegal in California too.
I recently moved back here from the UK and had to retake my driving test, so my head is still full of useless Driver's Handbook knowledge. One of the no-nos is passing someone on the shoulder of the road.

Of course, everyone does it because this is L.A. and anything goes, but the parasites in blue can still get you if they can be bothered to get off their asses long enough to write the ticket.

21. Thanks for the heads up!
I don't spend a great deal of time swinging around on the shoulder, but I have done it. I won't in the future.

It's been, oh, about 17 years since I have taken the written test. Sounds like I"m driving by Kerrytravelers Rules of the Road and not California's!

12. Write or Check "Not Guilty" on it.
One of my best friends growing up is a cop and says that he hates that because he has to go on his time...not scheduled work time. (That's CT though, it may not be the same where you are.) So...he doesn't show up and they toss the ticket. Or he says he's not going to show up and they opt to not prosecute the ticket. Either way, no ticket, no fine. That's a pretty chunk of change they may decide that's worth showing up for.

To top it off, my previous speeding ticket from over 2 years ago was stricken from the record only 2 weeks before that....ugh....Mrs. Tripper wasn't pleased!
